Tried to retract bid n ok response
I bid on an item at 21 hours an realized my mistake at 16 hours. Have contacted seller 3x. It’s now down to 9 hrs. I did not know that it wasn’t possible to retract.
it looks like my only option is to not pay. Is that correct?
this is a crummy system. I’m done.

·3 years agoIt is not a crummy system. It keeps it honest. You knew the rules so do not place a bid if you have no intention of following through with it.

·3 years agoYou can always resell the item on eBay if you don't want it. It's not fair to the seller to waste their time by not paying. Next time use your watch list and think it over before buying or bidding.

·3 years agoTo add to @kathiec 's reply, you should know that sellers aren't required to cancel your bids or even to respond to you.
Next time, be sure you're sure before bidding! In fact, it's the rule and stated and presumably agreed to when you place your bid.

·3 years agoIf an auction has more than 12 hours left, it's possible to retract your bid if you have a valid reason, such as making a typo (for instance, bidding 100.00 when you meant to bid 10.00).
With less than 12 hours left, you can't retract and it's up to the seller whether they want to cancel your bid before the auction ends. Then even if you win the auction, you can still formally request a cancellation if you act within one hour after the auction ends.

·3 years agoIf you don't pay you'll likely get an unpaid item strike. Two of those and you'll find that a great many sellers will have blocked you from bidding or buying. This "crummy system" considers bids to be legally binding and expects you to be sure you actually want the item before you make one.
