Tracking number provided shows delivered but to another address with same zipcode.
I recently purchased something on Ebay and the seller provided a Fedex tracking number. The tracking number showed that the package have been delivered. My order never showed up. I contacted the seller and no response.
So I contacted FedEx and their customer service confirmed that the tracking number the seller provided was designated for someone else with a different address from my name and address that is associated with the ebay transaction.
It appears that the seller maybe have used a stolen valid tracking number to legitimize the transaction. What would be my best course of action to take to get my money back?
Also, tracking shows that the item was in Fedex's possesion before I even made the purchase. How likely will INR case close in my favor? Ebay will side with the seller if tracking shows delivered even though the package was never delivered to me but some other address in my area with the same zipcode?
I saw some negative feedback left for the seller but they soon got removed.

·3 years agoThank you so much ebay was able to resolve the case and it was in my favour. I explain to them that after paying for the item seller didn't update shipment until I asked after a day and the tracking numbe he first updated was showing label was initiated but item not received by post office. After sending several messages he later change the tracking number to another location within my zip code which was showing already delivered. I visited the post office several time on this and they printed the delivery note for me that the tracking number was for another location with different name on it. And I messages the seller he always reply relauncantly but ebay gave us an open days of 3days to discuss before their intervention they actually intervain and gave the ruling in my favour and the seller was blocked and remove and my refund was process. Please I will advise anyone buying item to always look at the history of sales and buying and type of item sell by a buyer before buying on eBay. I later saw similar type of people with the same backgrounds of this scam seller on eBay.

·3 years agoTHIS REAFIRMS TO ME THAT EBAY, FEDEX AND SCAMMERS ARE IN CAHOOTS AS EVERYONE HERE IS HAVING THE SAME SITUATION. LOOKS LIKE A COMMON DENOMINATOR IN EACH CASE. HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL...EVEN CALLING EBAY CORPORATE OFFICE WOULD'NT HELP.
I WILL THINK TWICE NOW OF ORDERING FROM EBAY. LUCKILY, MY PURCHASE WAS ONLY $21.00 ITEM. I HAVE JUST READ WHERE SOMEONE IS OUT $500 FOR A CHILD'S TOY DELIVERED TO THE WRONG ADDRESS !!!!!
THAT IS AN OUTRAGE !!!!! SOMETHING HAS GOT TO BE DONE TO STOP THESE EVIL SCAMMER CRIMINALS.

·3 years agoeBay, do not want to pay the guaranteed money back therefore they always rule in favor of the seller. They rather you be scammed than them. Remember they have to give you the money back and deal with this scammer.

·3 years agoIn my case, eBay has all the evidence they needed common sense is the only value they have not use. They refuse to use it because they would have to rule in my favor as the buyer and give me my money back. Therefore, there’s nothing I can tell them that will make them understand, and have them rule in my favor

YES, I TOO HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM...AND...WITH FEDEX AS WELL. IT APPEARS THAT SCAMMERS REALIZE THAT THEY CAN COLLECT OUR MONEY AND THEN SEND THE PACKAGE TO A DIFFERENT ADDRESS, PROBABLY TO A RELATIVE OR EVEN THEMSELVES AND DOING IT THIS WAY IT CANNOT BE TRACED. AFTER UNSUCCESSFULLY CONTACTING EBAY AND SELLER REGARDING MY SITUATION, I CONTACTED FEDEX SINCE TRACKING INFO SHOWED THAT PACKAGE HAD BEEN HANDLED BY THEM. HOWEVER, THEY REFUSED TO HELP UNLESS I TOLD THEM THE ADDRESS AND NAME THEY DELIVERED PACKAGE TO. THERE IS NO WAY I COULD HAVE THAT INFO. I CALLED EBAY CORPORATE OFFICE AND MOST NUMBERS DON'T ANSWER OR THEY HANG UP. I'M BEGINNING TO THINK THAT EBAY KNOWS OF THIS AND THAT THEY ARE IN CAHOOTS WITH THE SCAMMER SELLERS.
SORRY YOU HAD THE UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE OF THESE EVIL OPPORTUNISTS IN THIS WORLD.

·3 years agoIt will not matter eBay will not listen to FedEx or US Postal Service, Federal Express, and no one else they are going to do everything they can not to refund your money and that means always ruling by the seller and not the scammed buyer

·3 years agoTHIS IS HAPPENING A LOT !!!!!! ALWAYS INVOLVING FEDEX. I GUESS EBAY IS FINALLY CATCHING ON THAT SOMETHING IS GOING ON WITH THESE SCAMMER SELLERS.
I SEE THIS HAPPENED TO YOU SOME TIME AGO. I HOPE AND PRAY AT THIS POINT IN TIME THAT EBAY CAME THROUGH FOR YOU.

THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION. IT IS QUITE USEFUL. HOWEVER, IT DOESN'T APPLY TO ME IN THIS SITUATION. THE PACKAGE TRAVELLED VIA FEDEX AND WAS DELIVERED TO THE WRONG ADDRESS. I CONTACTED FEDEX AND THEY NEEDED ME TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE ADDRESS AND NAME OF PARTYTHEY DELIVERED IT TO. OF COURSE I DID NOT HAVE THIS INFORMATION TO PROVIDE THEM AND SO THEY COULDN'T HELP ME ANY FURTHER. ON THE TRACKING INFO I SAW THAT IT WAS DELIVERED TO A DIFFERENT ZIP CODE, NOT MY ZIP CODE. FEDEX TOLD ME TO CONTACT SELLER AND EBAY WHICH I DID AT NAUSEUM WITH NO POSITIVE RESULTS. SELLER GOT THEIR MONEY AND EBAY COULD CARE LESS. SO I WILL THINK TWICE ABOUT PURCHASING ANYTHING FROM EBAY.

·3 years agoIf you can obtain documentation from Fedex that shows the tracking number does not correspond to your own address, or other indications that the tracking cannot be for your order, you can appeal your case with eBay via social media and you may be able to get a refund.
You do not actually need to know the address that the tracking number corresponds to; you only need to show eBay that the address is not yours. If you provide your address to Fedex, Fedex can tell you if the address matches or not.

·3 years agoIn my case, the US Postal Service pacifically Tow Ebay, but the package did not come to my address with submit absolutely nothing to eBay appeals process. They still rule in the settlers favor so eBay is a scam, especially the money back guarantee you see you when you go to their webpage

·3 years agoAgain, it’s a waste of time to try and convince eBay that the seller is a fraud. Once the tracking number has confirmed delivery. Nothing you can give them will cost them not to rule by the seller. Remember, any ruling in your favor will cost them money think about it.

Except that others have provided such documentation and have actually gotten refunds. Search the boards for examples.
