Tracking Information Missing
After the item is presumably delivered, the Tracking Information is removed by Ebay. What if the item didn't arrive? How are you supposed to track it? How are you supposed to notify the Shipper. Open a case with the Post Office, or other shipping company? How are you able to go back and see where the package was left?

The tracking info is still on your order details page open it up.
If the tracking has a delivered scan, but nothing was actually delivered. Your best bet for the quickest resolution will be to, go to your P.O. or a local UPS or FedEx store. You need to bring a copy of your order details page which shows your address and the tracking number with you. If you bought using a phone or tablet, you can bring that to show the clerk the order details.
You want to ask the clerk to check the label address against yours, and also to check the Package type/size/weight info to see if was is appropriate for what you should have received. If the info does not match up, you ask the clerk to write a note on Company stationary saying in general that the shipping label's address was not yours, and if applicable that the package type/size/weight was not right for what you should have received. Do not ask for specific address or package info, they cannot give it out. Have the clerk sign and date the note.
You get that info because if the seller says the item was delivered, and won't help. If you file an Item Not Received (INR) dispute, ebay's automated INR system which can only check tracking info for a Delivered scan not the actual delivery address due to shipper's privacy policies, will close the dispute in the seller's favor. When you receive a notice saying that, there will be an appeal button in it. To win the appeal, you need to scan or take a clear photo of the note, to add it to the appeal, to win.

OP2 years agoCopy of your Order Details. So that's where they hid the tracking number. Ebay was so much better before they decided to mess with things by people who don't know what they are doing. I took Computer Classes in College, and I can tell you from first hand experience that these coding methods would get a bad grade from the instructor. Way too many mistakes with coding, validations, links, excessive clicks. Information that should be on a particular page is hidden somewhere else. It might take one more clicks or several more clicks to find the information that should have been located on the first page.

OP2 years agoThe Track Package Button disappears after the item is delivered. What if the item was not received? How can I go back and see the tracking information which also includes the location where the package was left. It will say, package was left on the patio, at front door, at garage, or in the mailbox. Without a tracking number, I cannot contact the Post Office or other shipping company. So I need to copy the tracking number ahead of time, just in case the package doesn't arrive. It's a major inconvenience to hide the tracking information after the package was presumably delivered. What if it wasn't? What if it was delivered to the wrong address. What if it weighs 60 pounds and the tracking indicates that it weighs 16 ounces. Maybe they shipped an empty box. It happens sometimes, and that is the reason why the Tracking Number needs to be there even after the package is supposedly delivered.

Tick on 'View order details' (upper, right) and your Tracking number shows. > Order details (ebay.com)

·2 years agoI would have to do some checking, but pretty sure the USPS only keeps their tracking for a short time.
Found this:
Currently, access to tracking information for non-signature items is limited to 120 days. Tracking information for signature items is available for 2 years. USPS Tracking Plus® provides options to extend access to the tracking history for anywhere from an additional 6 months up to 10 years for a small fee.

Every one of my orders from the past 90 days is in my purchase history with clickable tracking all the details at my fingertips.
Beyond 90 days going back looks like 2 1/2 years the purchases are there and the tracking numbers are there. I imagine I could take the tracking numbers to the shipping company if I needed to find information on something that old.
