Tracking for package has not showed up
I bought something from eBay on 11-27 and the tracking for the package has not shown up. I don’t know if the seller has not shipped it or is using a different way to ship it. The status for the item still says paid.

·2 years agoDisclaimer…. This is posted in jest regarding feedback obsession… not towards anyone in particular.
Try ordering internationally. If you love the mystery of short- distance domestic tracking , you will be over-the-top with overseas tracking.
there can be a week or more before your order is even processed. Then, the magic day comes where one reads “departing origin facility†in the shippers’ country (And that is if the origin county even uses tracking, and has it accessible in your language) . It’s on the way!
…. and then things go radio-silent for a month/plus. Much of the time, there will be no interim updates until the package reaches US customs. In the meantime…
Who knows what is going on with your stuff … is it in a container free- floating on the ocean? In a rocket launched into space? Is it being carried by errant sherpas through Himalayan passes and through desert wastelands? Is it being eaten by goats in South America? Are terrorists holding it hostage? Is it being blown through a typhoon-battered jungle?
And then… after sufficient time passes to the point you’ve forgotten ordering something… you get an update that your item reached customs! Yay!! And then… sits there for two weeks. THEN you receive it.
Ironically, there have been times I’ve had better luck with global transactions from unstable areas than I’ve had within the US two states away. Go figure.
But hey…if you love tracking suspense … this is for you!

·2 years agoSome sellers use tracking but don't share it with buyers. Ill-advised, but it happens.
I've bought a few nice things from one seller who hand-writes his labels and buys postage at the counter. He doesn't upload tracking, but his packages show up with tracking labels attached.

OP2 years agoSo I checked my purchased list on eBay this morning and the tracking showed up. It says it’s going to be here the 8th

For an item purchased November 28 and showing an estimated delivery of Deecember 5-9, it's likely that the seller has a long(ish) handling time and isn't even required to ship yet.
If you click on "see details" at the top of the listing next to shipping, it'll take you to the bottom of the page and will show the handling time.
What does it show there?
kafar-561113
OP2 years agoThe handling time says,â€will usually ship within 1 business day of receiving cleared payment.†The status of my order says paid. Didn’t eBay used to require the sellers to ship after the money showed up in the sellers account?

·2 years agoNo, eBay has never required that. What eBay requires is that sellers ship within their stated handling time. They also don't require sellers to have tracking. Honestly you're worrying incredibly prematurely. Instead of obsessing about tracking, just sit back and wait for the package to arrive, knowing that eBay has your back if it doesn't.

OP2 years agoOk thank you, I just need to work on not being obsessed on tracking. lol

·2 years agoI had an order that for 3 days the status was Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending
Then without any new update it suddenly showed up at the local USPS facility and was delivered on day 4

OP2 years agoSo maybe tomorrow it could show that it’s been shipped, tomorrow would be the 3rd day from buying the item.

·2 years agoPackage could very well have been shipped just is lacking scanning. I’ve had a few packages recently sent USPS not scanned until final delivery.

·2 years agoA day after the estimated delivery date Ebay gave you, open an Item Not Received case.
Go to your purchase history and click I didn't get it in the menu next to the item.
The seller will have 3 days to provide a tracking number showing it was delivered or refund.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.

Sellers are not required by eBay to add tracking numbers.
What is the estimated delivery date?
If the estimated delivery date has passed, buyers may open "item not received" cases against the sellers.

OP2 years agoThe estimated delivery date is the 5th through the 9th. I know I can’t open an INR case just yet. I want to send the seller a message asking about tracking but I don’t know if they are sick and just can’t get it out or they are just busy.

The seller may have listed their handling time which can be found by clicking on the Shipping, Returns & Payments tab on the listing page. Ex: "Will usually ship within 3 days of payment clearing" .
If that is the case and you purchased the item after business hours in the seller's time zone, they would have until tomorrow to ship the item or create a label.
"I don’t know if the seller has not shipped it or is using a different way to ship it. The status for the item still says paid".
Usually if a seller doesn't use tracking they will still mark a package as Shipped. There could be one fairly common reason why the seller has not shipped, and that is if they are a new seller or one who has not sold anything in over a year. You would have to check their feedback profile to find that out. Scroll to near the bottom of the listing page and below the seller's username in a large font there is an oval with See all feedback written in it. Click on that button to be taken to their feedback profile page. On it click on the As a seller tab, to see if they have received any feedback for selling, or none in the last year.
If they haven't sold before or in over a year, they probably ran into the 21 day payment hold ebay places on all new or returning sellers first few payments, and they do not know how to deal with it. On their account the payment status is marked as Pending, so they do not think it has cleared.
They could have a fair number of feedback and even a 100% rating, but all for buying. That is just one reason why you should check the feedback profile page of any seller you intend to buy from.
If you find that the seller has not sold before or in over a year, try messaging them and tell them if they have not shipped because your payment is marked as pending, to do a Google search for "Payments on hold, ebay" That would give them the info they need to ship the item and get the funds released sooner.

OP2 years agoI checked his feedback and all the feedback is “as a seller†no feedback under the “as a buyer†tab. Some of the reviews say the past 6 months. I still think the seller is active, I just don’t know about my purchase where it hasn’t updated.

·2 years agoPer your information as provided here, the estimated delivery date is between December 5th-9th.
There's actually no reason or need to contact the seller before the 9th.
They either got tracking or they didn't. They will have shipped or not.
You do know that you have eBay's MBG, so why not just wait patiently until after the 9th?
kafar-561113
OP2 years agoI think I’m just going to do that, It may show up and tracking just wasn’t provided.

·2 years agoNot scanned does not = Not shipped.
How's that for a triple negative?

It is not necessary for buyers to have tracking information on an item they purchased. Tracking is for the benefit of the seller in case a buyer reports item not received.
