This is why I choose Amazon over Ebay
I wish Ebay would have a feedback not just for the seller but a SECONDARY feedback on a review of the specific item.
I see something I'm interested in on Ebay and it has no reviews so I hesitate to buy it.
I then go to Amazon and I see same or similar items with many reviews I can read about that specific item.
I then go buy it on Amazon.
I have always wondered why Ebay ties one hand behind its back about leaving a REVIEW OF THE PRODUCT
( Like Amazon offers) when it can help so many people it making a purchasing decision.
Recap :
Ebay should have TWO reviews ; One for the seller, one for the specific product.

I use online reviews to decide which products to purchase from my local brick & mortar, so I'm sure people do that when buying from eBay, as well.

"I see something I'm interested in on Ebay and it has no reviews so I hesitate to buy it.

Over the last several years, there have been many articles and news reports about product reviews on retail store and third party selling sites being fake ones. So when I want a review about an item, I search online for the reviews where the product is tested, they are on You Tube most times. The more expensive the item, the more reviews I look at.
On ebay's feedback page there is now a 5 star product rating, that has to be left before a feedback can be posted. Unfortunately, since feedback can only be left for 60 days, the star rating doesn't mean much, since issues may show up months after the 60 day time frame has passed.

OP2 years agoIt's easy to tell a fake review from a real one. Real buyers write about specific issues that a fake one just doesn't have. One weeds thru any fake or unimportant reviews to find important information. Ebay just does not provide that. Five star ratings are of little worth as those can more readily be faked as there are no specifics to them.

·2 years agoThere used to be an option to click on specific feedback for the item. It would appear on the listings page(see feedback) especially when the item was sold many times over. When clicked, a small box would show customer reviews and then you would click "see all". BUT, as eBay goes, every update something useful is removed and something useless is installed.
