eBay isn't going to do anything. I'm sure it will survive without me. Good luck everyone.

·4 months agoI think that's a reasonable guess. There's a good deal of fraud on eBay from package redirection. That's one of the reasons eBay only protects sellers if they ship to the shipping address entered at checkout. The fact that yours was a UPS redirect rather than one you requested obviously didn't register with eBay.

·4 months agoSorry that didn't work. Do you ever use a public network, like in a library or Starbucks? EBay tracks access by IP address, and there are many documented cases of people using a network that a banned account used, be then determined to be an associated account and also banned. This seemed to be particularly prevalent with networks in dorms and apartment complexes.
Unfortunately I've never heard of anyone successfully appealing a permanent ban. I wish I had better news.

OP4 months agoI specifically avoid using Wi-Fi networks like that for this exact reason.
The only thing I can think of that may have triggered this is that the account was literally brand new. I bought the item, but I didn’t receive the band until UPS changed the shipping address because of an unfortunate mix-up. I’m a “II” and my father has the same name, so the package was redirected to him instead of me. That’s been a whole separate issue on its own.
I’m guessing that, from eBay’s perspective, the shipping address change after purchase may have triggered some kind of fraud or security detection.

I have no clue why the account was banned, but yes, eBay prohibits using another account to circumvent a ban. So you may indeed find this account banned.
I recommend contacting the social media CS reps. Sometimes they're far more savvy than the offshore first-line reps. You can reach them through Instagram direct message:

OP4 months agoI'll give it a shot. It's all in all just so strange.

OP4 months agoNo dice. They just gave him the same generic AI scripted lines back.

·4 months agoIs the gmail email address common to both accounts? I know that eBay would not allow using the same email address in both accounts.
2515resale
OP4 months agoNo they are separate emails.

·4 months agoDo you use your own computer or device for eBay or one that is shared with multiple individuals?
