Unless you are buying something for a business you own, and have a tax license for, you pay a sales tax for purchases on ebay, just like you would if you bought it in a store. If the item should have been tax exempt make a copy of your payment receipt and deduct it from your state taxes.
All sites where there is an online payment are subject to sales tax based on the BUYER'S STATE. If I recall correctly, there are 3 or 4 states that do NOT charge sales tax on online purchases.
