Surprising delivery, eBay purchase delivered by local Walmart GMD
I know I should be happy and appreciative of sellers providing the items I need, and I am.
I recently had a strange experience as a buyer on eBay. I purchased an item on 01/06/2026 at 6:45 PM. The estimated delivery was January 16th, but the package arrived at my door at 7:48 AM the very next morning.
While I was impressed by the speed, I noticed several red flags:
Tracking Discrepancy - eBay showed and still shows the order as "Awaiting Shipment" via USPS Priority Mail.
Carrier - The package was actually delivered by a Walmart General Merchandise Delivery (GMD) driver.
Location - The seller was listed in Oklahoma, but the item clearly came from a local Walmart store.
As an eBay seller myself, I’m concerned about the potential for fraud. It seems like the seller is gaming the system by signing for an individual account to use for commercial purpose and drop shipping directly from Walmart, which I know is against eBay’s policy. Even worse, this looks like it could be triangulation fraud. Has anyone else encountered this GMD label trick?

·8 months agoYou seller will be uploading a usually FedEx tracking number
-- bought from one of the online tracking websites
-- which will neither have the correct weight, date, or dimensions for your item from Walmart
to fake its delivery.
It wasn't tristrangulation fraud @ten_o_nine unless Walmart contacts you later, to get paid because your seller paid with a stolen credit card.

·8 months agoNew and returning sellers are subject to payment holds. Those holds can be released 3 days after a delivered scan. Since the eBay software will not accept a tracking number from Walmart General Merchandise Delivery, the package will never get a delivered scan. I suppose your seller could send an empty package from an approved carrier to get the delivered scan and payment released.
Your seller will probably start a discussion like this.

·8 months agoSimilar thing recently, yes. Blatant fraud. Blatant violation of dropshipping policy. Hijacked accounts left and right. Likelihood of anyone but me caring been pretty depressingly low thus far.
