Strange goings on with duplicate orders and one seller is trying to sell me something not allowed.
I have been on eBay for roughly a millennia, and this is the strangest sequence of events I can remember. On July 16th, I bought a paperback craft type book (call this book 1). I looked at several and then bought one. Today, TWO showed up in my mailbox. 2 different books, 2 different sellers in 2 different states with no apparent connection that I can find. There is no record at all of a 2nd payment, a 2nd email, or anything in my eBay account to show that I ever purchased the second book (call this book 2). I need advice on both transactions. Book 1 came in not great condition and was advertised as very good. I want to return it. But even worse, there is an ad and coupon in the package of where I can buy certain, um, recreational pharmaceuticals. Ummm, what? I have asked the seller about this and they have not responded. I would like to return it without having to pay return shipping. The seller does accept returns, but like I said, they have not responded to my message. Do I report them to eBay? They have millions of transactions and I can't imagine that they have been offering in-some-places-illegal items for sale on the side for long.
Now on to Book 2: I received a packing slip with my order that says I ordered it through Abe Books on July 18, even though the return address shows an eBay seller. I do not have an account at Abe Books, and there is no record anywhere of me ordering this and I have never ordered from this eBay seller. The seller shown on the return address does not accept messages (how that is eBay approved I don't know!) . I realize I am legally allowed to keep the book, but I actually DO want this copy as it is in great condition. I want to contact the seller and pay them if possible.
Please help. 😩

OP1 year agoNow it says "Your return has been completed and you have been refunded" and I have been refunded and I received a message from the seller to pass the book along to a thrift store, which I will do. So this means everything is complete, correct?

·1 year ago@carriesbarn ,
Open the dispute itself and look in it for a button for a shipping label link. On ebay, anything that is underlined or in a blue colored font is a button.

OP1 year agoThe return process has been initiated and I have been sent a return label but I don't know where to find it. I do not see it on any screen related to my purchase or the return and it was not sent to my email. I looked very carefully as to where to find it and there is no "Print Label" option anywhere. Sorry, I have never returned something on here before.

OP1 year agoThank you so much for your quick reply. I probably do overthink things. I did read the MBG but I technically did get the item I ordered, so I figured it didn't apply! Anyway, thanks again and I will proceed as you suggested.

·1 year agoBut as klhmdg advised, make sure you file a Not as Described case, and not an Item Not Received case. Two very different things. I only add this as you said that you technically did get the item you ordered so you figured it didn't apply.
You did not get the item you ordered as it was described.

OP1 year agoYes! I absolutely did say it was not as described.

·1 year agoGood. You should be taken care of then if you filed a not as described case.

·1 year agoBook 1 - go to your purchase history and file a Not As Described case.
The seller will either refund you or send you a shipping label to return it.
If they do neither - 3 days later go back to the case and ask eBay to step in.
Book 2 - may have come from the same seller. Many sellers have more than 1 selling account.
If you dont have anything from eBay saying you ordered it and you now have it - it is yours. Maybe they shipped to you twice... who knows -
Try not to over think - just file for the Not As Described.
