Slack on missing Priority Mail
I've been waiting on a Priority Mail package since before Christmas. When it never budged from 'package at post office; acceptance pending' after a week, I asked the seller if they could check in with the PO and make sure it was not stuck behind a mail bin in the back or something. They asked me to wait a couple of days and see if it moved, and to get back to them if it didn't. No movement after 3 days; I contacted them again. They asked me to give it a couple more days and if it didn't move they would send out a replacement. Still nothing and I asked if they could send out the replacement and I would mark whichever arrived second as 'return to sender'. Now radio silence.
I appreciate them responding, but I paid for Priority Mail and so far this year have had 4 packages mishandled at the USPS, so I'm worried. This is an OOP game supplement, so I can't pick up a copy at Wally World. Is it time for INR?

You didn't say whether you asked to have the package shipped PM or if the seller just listed it that way.
Just a comment about my experience with Priority Mail. Priority Mail used to always take two days, occasionally three, to reach its destination. Now it's lucky if it gets there in a week. The last two or three packages I sent via Priority Mail all took over a week to get there, and the price is really expensive, too. I had a package last week that I compared the shipping cost; PM was going to cost $27.00 for a small box; it cost $14 via Ground Advantage. And for the most part, GA arrives pretty quickly. It just isn't worth it to use Priority anymore.

OP9 months agoThank you everyone; I've bought from this seller before with good results, but this time someone dropped the ball. There is another copy available, although not for expedited shipping 😛 ; I may buy that one as the original seller is rather dragging their feet. We've been going back and forth since the 27th and the box was originally scheduled to be delivered the 22nd, so I think it's time for INR.

·9 months agoWhy are you "going back and forth" with the seller? The EDD was December 22nd? Time for that INR.

·9 months agoSince I no longer sell here, and have to confess I seldom buy here also, my way of handling nonreceipt of a package may not be the best way in someone's eyes, but if/when my package is a few days late per the EDD, and tracking shows no movement, I just open an INR case. So far, in the last few years, I've only had to do that two or three times, but it works.

·9 months agoYou can file a missing mail report at USPS.com I have had many packages get " unstuck " that way. Keep a watch on the date. You don't want to let the dead line to file an item no received case to slip by.

·9 months agoDo you have tracking that states it is in a post office facility?
'acceptance pending'...means it has not been given to the post office.
Not getting a tracking number means seller never shipped it.
Sounds like an item not received...
buyselljack2016
·9 months ago'acceptance pending'.
can show up when
1) a scan sheet is used. can show pending until gets another scan after the sheet is scanned
2) a package is scanned at the kiosk. can show pending until gets another scan (would be why OP asked seller to check with the PO)
pending is not to be confused with "label created" but not yet in USPS possession

·9 months agoI see people leave packages at the counter all the time...of course a label was created...but it doesn't mean it has been in the hands of the post office until there is a scan which starts the tracking of the packing.
Anyone can steal a package before it got to be scanned on a counter at the post office...since this was the holiday rush...and the clerks are more busy helping customers than worrying about packages left at the counter.
The post office I use has a cart over the counter where people can toss their packages into...but when it is busy the cart is full and packages get placed on the counter because people don't want to wait to get a scan by a clerk.
You are assuming a 'scan' of a package will happen.
We get quite a few posts about sellers using a scan sheet and their packages did not get scanned but might be in shipping or not.
You are basically saying what 'should' happen...doesn't mean it will 100% happen as expected.
buyselljack2016
·9 months agoYes, what you state can happen/does happen🙂
this situation is different. apples and oranges
there was a "scan" per one of the methods that I suggested that resulted in "pending"
Each of those require another "scan" of that tracking barcode before they advance from the "pending" status.
---------------------
Reasons being..............
scan sheet for multiple items could match the count, but the actual package barcodes may not match. Needs an actual scan along the way.
scan at the kiosk is not proof that the item was actually sent. Needs an actual scan along the way.

·9 months ago'there was a scan'...I didn't see the OP stating this.
We could talk about what might, or what did , or what didn't but...
I was actually replying to the OP and not to the world🌠in general...but thanks anyway.

·9 months agoThe OP stated “When it never budged from 'package at post office; acceptance pending' after a week,â€.
That status means a scan sheet was scanned at the post office that had the tracking number on it, or the package was scanned at the kiosk, which is exactly what @buyselljack2016 was saying.

·9 months agoOpen an INR claim. Let the seller deal with the missing mail request. It's not your problem as the buyer.
klhmdg
·9 months agoFile a Not Received claim -
Stop messaging the seller.
Seldom do seller ever send out a 2nd item.
Once you file a Not Received claim the seller will have 3 days to update the tracking.
If the seller doesnt refund you in 3 days OR find your package, ask eBay to step in.
If the seller gets you to wait long enough the MBG will be no good.

·9 months agoThere is some way, through USPS, that the seller (or maybe the buyer) can put a "tracer" on the package. Or, if it's overdue by at least one day, you can open an INR case. You've not mentioned the last estimated delivery date as seen in the original listing, but you don't want to mess around with this too long to open an INR case, which you have only 30 days after the EDD to open a case with eBay.

It sounds like you're well passed the estimated delivery date, and at this point the seller is doing nothing, so yes. If it were me, INR time.
participatrophy
·9 months agoYep. That or file the missing mail search request yourself.
albertabrightalberta
·9 months agoIt doesn't hurt to file the missing mail search, but you also need to open INR. The missing mail search may be the catalyst that gets it moving, in which case your INR claim will be extended when tracking starts to show movement.
