I bought an item about 5 days ago and it still says “pre shipment info sent to usps, usps awaiting item” and it’s been that for 5 days this is my first time using eBay so I’m not sure what to do

OP4 months agoIt’s now the day it’s supposed to arrive and tracking still says item hasn’t been given to usps

·4 months agoIf June 4th was the estimated delivery date as seen in the listing when you made your purchase, you can open an item not received case on June 5th.
Please read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers so you will know what to do if/when a transaction goes wrong. Hopefully, that won't happen again, but wouldn't it be good to know what to do if it should?

·4 months agoIf the seller hasnt shipped after a week I send an eMail asking about it. By which point if they respond you'll be able to know if they are a scammer or just lazy by what they reply back with, if they do. When all the other online shopping sites started going belly up, those people moved to eBay and they do not know that when you sell an item, you have to ship it. Many people think they can just do nothing and keep the money, because that's how those other sites are run. The seller keeps the money and the website just gives the buyer their money back. eBay doesn't work that way, and they find that out.

·4 months agoThis is one reason I often post that I feel the value of tracking is oversold to buyers. It doesn't make the item arrive any faster or in better condition and it gives the buyer the illusion that they have more control over the shipment than they actually have.
It just makes more sense and is better for one's blood pressure to make a note of the estimated delivery timeframe and start checking the tracking just before then if, say, porch piracy is an issue, or if the purchase is somewhat time-sensitive.

The most important thing every new buyer needs to do is read about eBay's Money Back Guarantee. It tells you everything you need to know about how the MBG protects you, how to use it, and the deadlines for doing so.

·4 months ago@drox_90 ,
The others are right about having to wait for the last estimated delivery date to pass before you can take action.
However, in the mean time open the link below, click on Go To Best Answer, and read how to vet a seller to see if they are reliable or not, also to tell if they are a new or very occasional seller, who run into issues they may not know about.

·4 months agoI wouldn't be worried just yet, the delay could be due to a number of factors. Some shipping services are better than others with tracking, and it's possible it was dropped off but hasn't been scanned at a shipping center yet. The seller also could have been delayed shipping it due to the holiday weekend. And then of course, some sellers are just lazy about getting their orders out on time. I would contact the seller and ask for an update. If they haven't gotten back to you by June 5th, and there's still no package movement, you can always open an "item not received" case with eBay, and they should promptly refund you. And bear in mind that you have up to 30 days from the delivery date to open said case, so there's no real harm in waiting a bit, unless you need your order by a certain date.

OP4 months agoThanks I’ll be sure to look into that
drox_90
OP4 months agoI’d prefer it sooner than later but there’s no real rush I just want to make sure I’m receiving my item and don’t want to waste time waiting just for it not to come, but thank you I’ll wait a bit after the delivery date to and keep those factors in mind

·4 months agoThe account that I bought it from was compromised so I had to close it and get a new card does anybody have any ideas how long this takes
jonathanbrightlight
·4 months agoThat depends on your bank. I assume you just had that card closed and a new one assigned to the same account?

·4 months agoThere's nothing you can do until a day after the last estimated delivery date.

·4 months ago@drox_90 Hi. If you go to the order and there is an option to cancel, you can put in the request. Sellers do not have honor cancellation requests.
Do you know the handling time for the seller? If not, from the order page, click back on the listing. Once the listing comes up, on the right side just above the Payment options you will see the shipping information. Click on "See Details" as shown below.
From there, a window will pop up like the one below. Look down until you see information about the seller's handling time.
When you find that, come back and let us know the following:
1. The seller's handling time
2. The exact date you placed the order
3. The range of delivery dates eBay shows on the order page
Me or someone else will be able to tell you whether you should be concerned now and what to do.
drox_90
OP4 months agoHandling time states: will usually ship between 2 business days of receiving cleared payment
i placed the order on may 25th
the range says may 30th to June 5th on when it will arrive but now it says June 2nd to June 8th on the original listing
marnotom!
·4 months agoIf you’re looking at the original listing page, that delivery estimate you’re seeing is calculated from today, not the date you purchased the item. You should be looking for this information in “My eBay.”
At this point, you’d be jumping the gun for a refund request, but I think you understand that now.
drox_90
OP4 months agoI’ll wait about a week or 2 after the delivery date then
dryophelia
·4 months agoThe soonest you can open a case would be on June 6.

·4 months agoThe 25th was Memorial Day (and three days ago, not five). So per the seller's stated handling time they didn't have to ship before yesterday, which is the date of your original post.
One of the biggest lessons you can learn about shopping here is patience. Ignore tracking. Look in your purchase history or confirmation email for the last estimated delivery date. If your package hasn't arrived by a few days after that, open a case as outlined in the Money Back Guarantee. Obsessing over every purchase won't make for pleasant buying experiences.
marnotom!
·4 months agoWhat is the last estimated delivery date? You can’t file a case for a not-received item until that date has passed.
drox_90
OP4 months agoIt’s June 5th I’m just worried since there’s been no progress
soh.maryl
·4 months agoThere is absolutely nothing you can do until/unless it's at least one day late.
How about reading the Money Back Guarantee for buyers so that you'll know what to do if/when there's a problem?
