Shipped (untracked) not delivered
I bought an item from a seller and they marked it as shipped untracked. No updates, not delivered. I have buttons saying “rate your experience†and “return item†but nothing was delivered to be returned? What can I do in this situation??

As @12345jamesstamps explained it depends on what you purchased
Not all sellers use tracking especially on light weight low-cost items, I collect vintage Christmas cards so if I order fewer then 4 cards let's say some sellers choose not use tracking .
The system is just setting up for the next step in the process, but you actually cannot or should do nothing until you are a 2 - 5 days past the last estimated delivery date
And keep in mind next week is Christmas so you may possibly receive your order late due to all the added mail/packages this time of year.
I have ordered a very few things that did come late but they did arrive none the less
However, since there is no tracking, you of course won't be notified of that in case a delay in delivery is occurring
I am just stating do not be surprised and panic right away if your it comes late but do pay attention if you don't receive it with a let's say within 5 days from its late ESTIMATED delivery due date open your case if it does not show up.

Go to your purchase history click on the More actions button then on the Return item button. When you do that a drop down menu opens and you check I haven't received it continue to finish filing the dispute. Once you do that the dispute appears just above your purchase history.
The seller will have 3 days to respond to the dispute by either posting a tracking number showing an acceptance / delivered scan or by issuing a refund. If they do neither, on day four, open the dispute and click on the Ask ebay to step in button.
Your problem may have happened because you bought from a New or Returning seller who hasn't sold anything in over a year, that ran into the 21-30 day payment hold ebay places on all new/returning sellers first few payments and they didn't know that would happen or how to deal with it, unfortunately that is a fairly common problem.
You can avoid it in the future by checking each seller's feedback profile page before buying from one.
you have to: Scroll down a listing page until you see the seller's username in a large font. Under it will be a few comments, and under that a See All Feedback button. Click on it. On the page that opens you will see the following line above some comments.
Click on the switch back to classic view. That will show you the box with the number's of neutral and negative feedback a seller has received, which can be clicked on to read only those comments. You can click on the As A Seller button to see if they have any feedback for selling or if the last one is over a year old. Those sellers could have a fair number of feedback and even a 100% rating, but all for buying not selling.
If you find the seller is new/returning and want the item instead of a refund, try messaging them, tell them if they haven't shipped because your payment status shows pending, to do a Google search for "Payments on hold, ebay" If they do that they will get the info needed to ship the item and get the funds released.

·1 year agoDepends what it was shipped to you...
And when is the 'estimated date of arrival'...?
I wouldn't 'rate your experience' until one day after estimated date of delivery.
I would also notify seller before doing anything by email.
Not everyone uses tracking for small items.
Big items usually all have tracking.
Am I going to get tracking buying a post card that cost 2 bucks...probably not.

·1 year agoDon't file a return claim for an item you have not received! Go back to the transaction and look up the latest estimated delivery date. On the day after that, you can file a claim for "Item not received." Here's a link to eBay's buyer protection policy, which they call the "Money Back Guarantee":
