Sellers that scam buyers on shipping fees.
In far over a decade of purchases, I have over 900 positive responses and absolutely no disparaging remarks about me purchasing.
Recently I have approached several sellers about their exhorbenant shipping fees. Remember, you can check shipping fees with any shipping service. eBay offers sellers 30 to 70 percent off retail shipping rates. This a volume of scale advantage eBay has negotiated for sellers. But when sellers charge 200 to 8000 percent more than the off the street guy would pay directly to the carrier, something is wrong. eBay does not care. eBay does not check. Remember eBay collects a direct commission for the price the item is sold for. eBay only pays a fraction of this amount back to the buyer, and only for the price of the item. eBay is set up as a sellet reward model. What eBay and its sellers fail to understand is that there would be no business if not for buyers. The business model is 180° opposite of conventional business thinking. Next time you see a seller taking an exhorbenant shipping fee, send them a message that they are a scammer. And, refuse to purchase from disreputable businesses, period. Eventually, there could be a wave of consumer equity that sweeps over eBay and the sellers to make buyers have level footing in the process. Buyers have the ability and the power to shut down all eBay purchasing until eBay and its sellers begin creating a fair and equitable business model for buyers as well.
Sorry eBay, you are not getting better. You are becoming highly abusive to buyers. No buyers, no business. Take that to the Board Room.

·4 years agoI wanted to add that I just sent my Mom some napkin rings and cloth dinner napkins from a major department store and because the sale was under $100 they charged me $10.95 to ship.
Small light box, didn’t matter. They go by dollar amount.
Because I wanted them and couldn’t find them elsewhere (which is true of most of my Ebay purchases as well) I paid it.
My point is that shipping can be pricey. Perhaps you would be happier going to a physical store in your town?

·4 years agoThere is more than one side to your issue. The total price, item price + s/h, is just a numbers game. The only amount that should matter to you is the total cost. Ebay charges the same commission on the item price and the shipping. I personally prefer the higher amount to be on the shipping because here in CA we only pay sales tax on the item price, shipping is not taxed. I actually hate free shipping. If 2 sellers have the same item for the same total price, I'll always buy from the seller with the highest shipping fee. So please leave the shipping gougers alone, I love them

Well, that's a point I've rarely heard so clearly expressed.
