Sellers not following the protocol for certified refurbished
I have a breakfix business and often times I will sell a customer on a laptop that is sold on eBay so they can have a nice cushiony two year warranty. However, as of late, I'm finding sellers are using the certified refurbished condition tag and when I receive the unit it doesn't fit the criteria.
The computers will come with visible damage and sometimes malfunctioning. When I call the sellers out on how eBay states that the product must look "like new" they simply blow it off, and say just return it if you don't like it. Is there not a way to report these sellers? Either sell it in one of the lower conditions or actually refurbish them. I got one today that had a sticker over the lid. You can see some damage over the edge of the lid though.
The whole point is that it is supposed to run and look like new. I think eBay needs to add a new report category for those who are abusing the condition for sales.

·10 months agoIt would also be nice to let buyers know especially when buying a desktop PC to be prepared to smell cigarettes and perfume. I found out the hard way. Never again.

You can report listings for misrepresented condition until your fingers fall off, and nothing will come of them for two reeasons:
1) You sell in the same category and they do not take reports from competitor sellers seriously.
2) It takes reports by several individuals before ebay will act, unless you are reporting off ebay sales, or invalid payment methods.

·2 years agoWouldnt a refurbished computer be classified as used? In Ebays description, used means may have cosmetic damage, but be fully functional.

People confuse certified refurbished with seller refurbished all the time in various ebay discussions. My comment about certified refurbished is that it's equally as meaningless as seller refurbished if it is not being sold by the manufacturer or one listed by the manufacturer as an authorized dealer. I would also add Ebay's third option "ebay certified refurbished" to the discussion. Thanks for reading, I hope this comment summarizes the statements I had made earlier in the thread well enough.
