Sellers constantly say item is lost but there’s no tracking??
* I’m not asking how to avoid this scam, I now about checking feedback and country of registration. I’m asking if anyone knows their reasoning behind this scam*
Can someone explain to me the scam of sellers selling an item, marking it as shipped without a tracking number, and then when you contact them they say the package is lost and they’ll refund your money? This has happened to us so much lately and I don’t understand what the seller is gaining by this scam. They obviously never had the item, which is why they didn’t post a tracking number. They just mark it as shipped without actually shipping anything. But if they’re having to give refunds every time then what is the point of them doing this scam? Are they just hoping that some people will forget about the item and they’ll get to keep their money? Or is it something else entirely?

·2 years agoSome over seas sellers use very cheap shipping and it does not include tracking. If most items get delivered they can afford to " eat " a few that don't. That does risk their eBay rating dropping and being banned as a seller if it happens too much.
For some of the cheaper items , tracking can cost as much as the item.

·2 years agoI have a similar problem. I ordered a small appliance, no tracking was given and the seller sent an email stating that it was lost on a truck and offered a refund. I took the refund and ordered another from him. Guess what? Same cut and paste response. What is the advantage?
