Sellers altering feedback
So back in December I bought a bayonet from a seller who had amazing feedback. I liked what I saw so I bought it thinking I was going to get a great deal. However the product I received did not match the description that the seller had posted. To cut a long story short I contacted the seller to ask for a possible outcome of repair for the product that I bought. I was not rude or hateful nor did I give any bad attitude towards them.
The seller responded every single time to my responses with hostility and attitude and was not very helpful.
I left negative feedback on the seller that was legitimate and completely 100% earned.
However a hour after I posted the feedback it was removed I'm guessing by the seller.
My question is how is it possible that sellers can have their feedback altered when there's proof to the negativity that they've gotten? I feel like I can't trust any positive feedback on any seller's page because at any moment in time they could have had it altered. So how can I trust doing business on eBay?

·1 year agoSellers CANNOT remove feedback.
Sellers CAN ask ebay to remove and as stated, depends on what you said whether ebay determines.
What exactly (or close to) did you say?

The Money Back Guarantee is complaining to the police.
BTW, because we are not allowed to "name and shame" on the Boards the obdurate seller's name will probably be deleted from your post #5.

The next time you should open a return case instead of going back and forth with the seller when it's not as described. Then leave feedback after you win the case and your feedback will stick unless you said something that's against policy.
Another thing is never mention the word feedback in your messages or else eBay will think you're using that to extort a refund, and could remove it.
Sometimes eBay will remove feedback if the feedback could harm them, like when they're new at selling.
I think if the seller offers free returns it could be removed.

You have 30 days from delivery for that.
The seller would be required to send you Return Shipping and to refund on arrival.
If he does not cooperate, eBay might send Return Shipping and refund on arrival, or may assume the seller has abandoned the item and refund you without a return.
if you missed the 30 day deadline, because you got focussed on the feedback, you can still open a Not As Described chargeback with the credit card you paid for.
Be prepared to pay for the return of the item yourself before receiving the refund, because card policies may differ.
EBay's Money Back Guarantee promises unhappy buyers a refund on unwanted purchases.
Use it.

·1 year agoCertain words or sentences are not allowed even if they are true.
eBay or perhaps the seller was able to have it taken off.
Some sellers have accounts where eBay will delete a feedback like Top Seller Plus (I think.) if seller ask.

As others have stated, sellers can only request that eBay remove feedback. The one thing you can do is review eBay's feedback policy and follow it. Because I can guarantee that a growing number of sellers are very familiar with it and use violations of it to get eBay to remove feedback.

·1 year agoFeedback isn't what it used to be.
Believe it or not, I do buy from a seller that usually has 50+ negative feedbacks every month. But his auctions are rather good sometimes. I have gotten a few 'lemons' in my order sometimes but I never say anything about it.
This seller blocks any buyer making comments or asking for a return or a refund and so on.
Although your feedbacks are true...some feedbacks given to other sellers who get negative feedbacks seem a little too much ranting sometimes and might not be true.
Me, I never would give a negative or neutral feedback to a seller...and I do buy a lot.
Everyone can read your feedbacks...all sellers and buyers.

Basically, yes. Just like all buyer IDs have a 100% rating. Whether one is a wonderful conscientious buyer, or the biggest scammer on the site, both will have only positive reviews at 100%.

Would that be in ebay's best interests ?
A Buyer isn't informed of the number of negative & neutral feedback that ebay has chosen to remove or why the removal, for the seller whose feedback the buyer reviews.
