Seller will not respond
Bought at catylitic convertor from kax-----car parts it has a 5 year warrenty i wrote to them it went bad after less then 1 year of useage i want a new one sent to me due to failure .....i wrote to them 3 times and no responce

·1 year agoUnless seller is a registered dealer for that company there is no 5 year warranty with that seller....there is 30 day guarantee

·1 year agoI’m always surprised at people buying stuff from online sellers offering warranty, but yet their listings do not show anything on how the warranty works. That’s a red flag. Not even the option to register the item for warranty work. Those are red flags to look out for. I bet the item didn’t come with a registration card, or some sort of link to register your purchase. Red flags again. Best to check your payment source and see if you are covered under then, if not, count your losses and seek locally. There is a reason why cheap is cheap. Good luck

·1 year agoIf you paid by credit card, contact your card company. Some cover up to a year. There is no warranty on most items purchased on eBay. eBay covers you for 30 days from delivery.

Many of the chinese sellers offer store or product warranties for a year or more past ebay's Money Back Guarantee 30 day from Delivery protections. eBay's rule about warranties says the are supposed to show a copy of their warranty, but they do not seem to enforce it. So if you receive an item that is supposed to have an extended warranty, but it does not come with a copy of the warranty terms, return it for being Not As Described. The seller will have to pay the return shipping.

What kensgift shop wrote about Chinese warranties, The first sentence is correct but not the second one. "The manufacture will fix/replace, then charge you to ship it back".
They never find a problem with quality, operation or a Mfr. defect. Then they will ask you to pay to have it sent back, which will cost about the same as what you had to pay to ship it to them. So basically you will be out the return shipping cost and the item.

·1 year agoI cannot say that I am surprised that an off-brand catalytic converter would fail early.
I cannot say that I am surprised that a manufacturer's warranty would not be honored on an Ebay purchase.

·1 year agoHi @hookuspookus529 . eBay's policy allows 30 days for claims. If the seller offers a warranty on their own, there is nothing eBay can do to enforce it or make the seller respond. Did you try calling the seller?

Did you save a copy of the listing page and/or product packaging with warranty claims?
Is the seller also the manufacturer?
Is the seller in the US or China?
All of that is going to impact your options here.

Edit: I found what I believe to be the company's website. There is an email address. Unfortunately you chose a manufacturer in China which means you're pretty much stuck here unless they decide to reply or unless your payment method offers a 1 year claim window. They are located in China and ship from a warehouse in California.
Check with your payment method (credit card, bank, etc) to see if they offer protections this far out.

·1 year agoThe deal with them warranties from China, you have to pay to return the item to China, which usually cost more then the item did.
The manufacture will fix/replace, then charge you to ship it back

Certain items make more sense sourcing locally. (critical auto parts, health related products, food)
Manufacture warranties can be tricky and do your research before buying another, even if the seller is US based. Just because someone lists a product as Brand New does not mean it will qualify for repair/replacement from the manufacture. Many times, the dealer (seller) must be an authorized dealer for it to qualify under the manufactures warranty. (US or any other country) It can be tricky.
Sometimes paying more for an item upfront can save you time/hassle. (local repair shop, pep boys, auto zone)

You learned a valuable lesson. When purchasing parts deal with US sellers and perhaps local. Ebay isn't a place where if something goes bad after say 9 months you can just go back to the seller and expect them to make it right. Locally you can walk into the store and they can handle it.
