Seller wants me to send the item back or send a check in the mail.

I bought a lot and received it. The same day I received the lot, the seller said they wanted it back and refunded my payment by using the "Buyer wants to cancel the order" prompt. I am now being asked by the seller to send the lot back or send a check by mail to them. Seller says ebay told them this is how they can get their money back. I want to use an ebay platform to send my initial payment back. How do you suggest I proceed?

Not sure what your "seller" doing. That is not how a return is handled. Nor is there any " I want it back" option a seller can choose. First sit tight and make sure you did get that refund. That can take some time. Since you did not request to return the item, ebay will see that on the sale record, you don't have to return of pay anything. If you really do get a refund, could return it provided the seller sends a paid label or you could pay again. However, your NOT required to do either.

Late response but this is a classic case of you spent a lot and they had to pay all these fees. Canceling the order and requesting you to send payment another way is just them trying to skate around paying those fees. EBay gets roughly 13-15% of whatever it is you bought so add that up. This seller is just doing a scam.

I basically responded so people when they see this today will know whatâ€™s happening.

If you read the thread carefully, you'll see that the seller was doing a scam that's bigger than avoiding eBay fees. They told the buyer to send them a check, but they never actually refunded the buyer's original payment. From post #7: "Well, I found out that the seller NEVER canceled my order like they said they did."
