Seller wants me to drive 1-1/2 hrs to pickup item I purchased.
Summary: scottchman427 shared frustrations about a purchased car bumper shipped to a distant airport instead of their address due to an alleged policy change. They expressed concerns about suspicious tracking numbers and potential fines for holding the item. 1786davycrockett and albertabrightalberta provided advice, emphasizing opening an "item not received" case with eBay. albertabrightalberta questioned the legitimacy of the seller’s claim about shipping changes due to Covid, given normal operations have resumed. scottchman427 acknowledged the advice and confirmed the request was opened.
Hello,
I purchased a used front bumper for a Corolla on August 14 for $110. Shipping was $99. I assumed the item would be shipped to my address like usual, but it seems the seller has sent me messages that since I selected the economy shipping option (I didn't) that it will be shipped to the nearest Delta Airlines airport, the closest one being Cincinnati which is 80 miles from me. Then I got a message the "Fastenal" has frozen all shipping operations due to Covid and is switching to Delta Airlines airport nearest to the buyer. I live in Lexington, KY and the nearest airport to me is Blue Grass Airport (LEX) which Delta flies to. Also, there are two tracking numbers for one bumper and neither of the tracking numbers work. They said that the bumper has arrived at Cincinnati Airport and everyday after a holding period of 72 hrs there could be up to a $25 fine. This definitely is super sketchy. This has to be a scam. I thought it was against Ebay policy to make buyers travel to pickup a package, let alone 1.5 hrs to an airport in a different state. I've opened a request already. Is there anything else I need to do?

·2 weeks agoPlease explain what you mean by that. What kind of "request" did you open?
Go to your order and click that you "haven't received it"
The seller will have 3 days to respond with tracking showing delivery to YOUR ZIP CODE.
If the seller doesn't respond or doesn't show tracking and delivery, go back to the case on day 4 and ask ebay to step in.
Covid? That was several years ago. Normal shipping has resumed!

Hopefully the request which you opened was an "item not received" case -- although I'm wondering about those two different tracking numbers which you mentioned.

OP1 week agoYes, that's the type of request I opened. I was confused by the two tracking numbers as well because it should be one large package.
