seller used inferior shipping method
I just ordered a $1000+ equipment plus expedited shipping for $50 (UPS 3 day select). But the seller shipped via UPS ground. What action can I take in this situation? Can I get some money back? Also it seems like this shipping method has delay and now I will get my item even later.

·3 years agoThere are many times that a different shipping option is pre-selected when I go to the shipping page, luckily I catch it most of the time, other days, I have to void a label and do it correctly, it's a pain, I don't know why it does not pre-select the method the buyer chose. There is a chance your shipper did not notice. I would politely point it out to the seller and ask for the difference as a refund, but they may decline.

·3 years agoWell, that stinks. Okay... at face value you have a Not as Described claim because the seller downgraded the shipping method from what was advertised in the listing, correct? Now here's the rub... do you want to open a Return claim (after you receive the item) for this reason? If so, you might be required to return it for a refund, not to mention you'll be out an item you wanted enough to buy.
It might be worth a shot to calmly contact the seller with your feelings about the 'lesser' shipping and ask if the seller would make any concessions because he's caught. (We can't give you any money back, but your seller could.) Might be worth it to sleep on it, I'm just sayin'...
Good luck, however you proceed.

·3 years agoThere's no action as far as actual discipline you can take but here are a few things. Send a nicely worded message pointing out that you will now be delayed because they used the wrong shipping method which you paid for. Seller can always send you a partial refund.
You also have the ability to leave appropriate feedback for this slight inconvenience, but that would be after you receive the item and make certain you will not be sending it back. Sellers are not supposed to change the shipping method so they are in the wrong, but you will get more out of them thru kindness. Best of luck to you....

·3 years agoYou can ask the seller to refund the difference. They are not required to refund.
The only recourse you have through eBay is to file an item not as described claim which means you need to be prepared to return the item. Is that really worth it over a few days delay?
Try to work it out with the seller while avoiding getting into an argument.
Seller,
Thanks for getting my item packed and shipped. I paid for UPS 3 day select, but I noticed you downgraded the shipping method to UPS Ground. If the package does not arrive by [enter date 3 days after shipment], I'd like to request a refund for the shipping difference. I chose the more expensive shipping option at checkout because I wanted the item sooner. Hopefully this was just an oversight and we can work it out.
Thanks,
Buyer
