Seller used counterfeit postage
Recently I ordered a product from seller it seems instead of buying USPS label through eBay, he used actual stamps and took to post office. Clerk accepted and gave tracking #. Then later when I try to track, postal website says package contained counterfeit postage and will no longer provide tracking. I believe P.O. confiscated it and will never be delivered to me. I filed refund request. But eBay seems to drag their feet on this. Had this ever happened to anyone else here?

·3 weeks agoThere can be any number of reasons.
Seller might have used stamps already lightly cancel.
I received a priority mail envelope with a Australian Duck Stamp on it from a USA seller...that actually made it through his post office.
I had another seller use a United Nations Stamp as part of his postage and that went through from a USA seller.
Usually when a seller takes an item to the post office it 'gets stamped' on the stamps especially when there is tracking by the clerk.
Something doesn't seem correct here...I think the seller dropped the item off using stamps and not using a clerk.
You didn't actually see the seller give the clerk the package so it's only hearsay.
I visit the post office 3-4 times a week and use the clerks a lot at my post office.

·3 weeks agoJust an FYI - using stamps USPS clerks cannot "issue" tracking -
eBay is not dragging their feet. It is all automated and has times for each action.
The system only sees a tracking number and that it is not updated as received.
eBay will often postpone the decision on an item not received case to allow a little more time for the item to arrive at the buyers address.
Once you go back into your Not Received case and ask eBay to step in you will be refunded.
You may want to read how the eBay MBG works so you know your next step.

·3 weeks agoYou very much can use stamps to get tracking on anything. You slap $8.40 in stamps on a 4oz box for example and the PO will give it a GA barcode sticker. Stamp sellers like James up there do it all the time. I once got a package with 20+ stamps on it, everything from 3c to International Forever lol.
The weird thing is, is that the clerk would hand cancel the stamps and that would be the only time they would have to do a counterfeit check. Normally with an envelope the canceling machine does a UV scan to check the stamps, but with a package that won't happen so I'm confused as to how they were determined to be counterfeit if the seller got tracking from a clerk that was fine with them.

·3 weeks agoIf you mail a package with stamps only (without a postage label or tracking service), USPS will process it as First‑Class Mail, which does not provide tracking

·3 weeks agoWhen they see that tracking has an acceptance scan eBay will often postpone the decision in an item not received case to allow a little more time for the item to arrive. But they won't do this indefinitely. If you've gone back to your INR case and asked eBay to step in they will eventually refund you.
