Seller unhappy with winning bid playing games so he can relist item to fetch more $$
My Father bid and won an auction for PC Components. My Father has 100% Feedback and great communication skills. I am just an interested 3rd party. I sent the seller a message because I had a few very simple questions about the item. I also mentioned I was the sellers Son. When the auction ended my Father paid for the item within minutes. Up until then he had zero communication with the seller.
So at this point the seller contacts my Father, and he states that he, "Doesn't have time for problematic buyers, he could just as easily unpack-age the item and put it "back on the shelf" and "Do you want a refund"? he asks emphatically. Keep in mind my Father did nothing but pay for the item within minutes of the auction ended. He never asked the seller a single question. That was me who asked him 2 very simple simple questions about packaging mostly. He clearly got irritated by my questions but I think I believe he's most upset because the item didn't sell for the amount he expected. I am a seller myself but when a buyer wins and pays for an item you have to do the right thing and ship it.
The bottom line is My Father won the auction and he still wants the item!
The seller printed a label shortly after receiving payment but 6 days later the USPS never received the item and there is zero tracking updates. I know what the seller is doing. He's going to say the post office lost the item so he can refund the money and a month from now he will relist the same item on Ebay hoping to get more money for it after the post office magically finds it. I really hope I am wrong about this but this guys attitude is terrible.

When you were asking questions of the seller, did you do so from this account or your father's? If you did it from this one and I were the seller, even though I do know the rules, I might consider cancelling a sale and taking the defect rather than dealing with two different people contacting me about an auction sale, one of whom was not involved in it. Especially, if the one who was not the winner, was trying to tell me how to ship. After cancelling I'd use the report an issue with a buyer button. Yours and your fathers 100% rating have no bearing on the issue. As long as a member buys only or has not sold in over a year, they will have a 100% rating, but so do all non payers and scammers.
Maybe the seller did not get the price they wanted for the item, but you do not know if that was the issue, or if it was your interference. Did you bother checking the seller's feedback profile page to see if they had sold before? New sellers are the ones most often to cancel an auction sale if they do not get what they hoped for an auction listing.
"The seller printed a label shortly after receiving payment but 6 days later the USPS never received the item and there is zero tracking updates".
If the seller was new or hadn't sold in over a year they probably did not know about the 21 day hold ebay places on new or returning sellers who have not sold in over a year, first few payments. On their account, the payment status shows Pending, so questions about shipping may seem like attempts to scam them. That's another common issue with new or returning sellers and a reason to check feedback profile pages before buying from any seller.

"sellers need to learn to put a min/max on their stuff if there wanting a certain amount" .
Since you do not seem to list items using the auction format, you may not know that it does not work like the Best offer listings. A reserve price can be set, but it costs $5 or 7.5% of the reserve price up to $250. If the reserve is not met at the auction's end, the fee is not refunded.
"I just wont an auction and sent 2 messages and still no reply or tracking. Now my money is tied up and I can not buy what I need because this fool has my money and we have to WAIT and miss out on buying a alternative item. Frustrating because you would think Ebay has your back in these cases".
You sell and have had to deal with the money back guarantee in the last year, so you should know what its terms are. Sellers Are Not Required to reply to messages or use tracking when they ship items. Did you check the seller's handling time? eBay does have your back especially as a buyer, but you do have to wait until the last estimated delivery date before you can do anything. With 9% of your last 100 purchases having issues, maybe you need to take ebay buying 101 over again.
If you did not know that you need to go back to ebay selling school.

·3 years agoPeople who aren't the buyer shouldn't ask the seller anything; that's for the buyer to do. All questions should be asked prior to bidding or buying, and all buyers who do not sell on the same account have 100% feedback.

OP3 years agoNot that it matters but I fully intended to buy the item but my Father offered to buy it as a xmas gift.

·3 years agoThen any questions needed to be sent from your fathers account since he was the buyer and since he has such great communication skills.
The way you did it would seem sketchy to lots of sellers.
Also all buyers have 100% on everything so your dad having 100% means nothing since sellers are not allowed to say anything than positive things about buyers.

·3 years agoPerhaps it was puzzling to the seller that a person who was NOT the buyer was asking questions about the item.
Simplest solution: There was an estimated delivery date in the listing. If item is not received by the day after that date, an item not received case can be opened; however, given the season, would suggest he wait a few days longer than that. Buyer has 30 days to open that case with eBay.
Doesn't matter what he claims about the PO losing the item. If there is no tracking proving delivery, eBay protects the buyer in such a case.
Have you read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers?

OP3 years agoSo what happens if the seller refunds my money and 3 weeks or 3 months from now he relists the exact same item hoping to do better financially the second time around? I never would have thought to do this but I bet it happens all the time.
Doesn't he still have to eat the shipping cost from when he printed the label?

·3 years agoYour money? I thought your father won and paid for the auction?
Buyers don't have to wait 3 weeks or 3 months for a refund. It seems you are really jumping to a lot of conclusions here. I realize you are frustrated, but take a breath. If the item doesn't arrive buyers can file an Item not Received case 1 day after the latest estimated delivery date. Simple.
Sure the seller can relist the item if in fact they still have it. Unfortunately yes it happens.
You can leave appropriate feedback. OR your father. Whomever the buyer is....not sure anymore..

·3 years agothat suxs !!, sellers need to learn to put a min/max on their stuff if there wanting a certain amount otherwise don't list it . Sellers protect yourselves by learning the system and rules . Dont be sketchy!
momtoabeautifuldaughter
·3 years agoNo, since the label wasn't used he simply voids it and USPS refunds him.

·3 years agoHave you read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers? you ask, ..Yes but when you follow a auction around the to place bids and finally win the item there are NO rules or policies to protect the buyer. Except get your money back. Ebay should have a department that would not allow this seller to relist this item and after so many of these issue you BAN THEM! Sellers need to learn how to properly list an item. If you don't put a min/max on your item, too bad! its your own fault, don't list if your not educated enough to protect yourself. I know how this person feels. I just wont an auction and sent 2 messages and still no reply or tracking. Now my money is tied up and I can not buy what I need because this fool has my money and we have to WAIT and miss out on buying a alternative item. Frustrating because you would think Ebay has your back in these cases.

·3 years agoThere are 1.5 billion listings and about 20 million sellers on eBay. The kind of scrutiny you're suggesting isn't possible. But eBay does track cancellations and Money Back Guarantee cases. Too many of them can result in penalties from higher fees to eventual account suspension.
