Seller trying to report me for fraud when item was damaged on arrival.
So first time having to return an item to ebay. I bought a copy of GTA 5 for my ps4, the case came with damage from being shipped in a very flimsy bubble mailer. I contacted the seller before filing a return. Stating the game worked but the case was broken in shipping, I was mainly just wanting a replacement case if that was possible. I don't really use Ebay so I'm not to keen on their return policies but the seller doesn't accept returns but I know if the item arrives damaged I guess it's covered by the MBG. I opened a return for items damaged while in shipping. To which I was offered a 6ish dollar partial refund but would have to return the item. Which I don't know if I would pay for that or not, but then the seller an hour later says I'm trying to scam them and my return case is fraud and I'll be reported?? I never stated the game not working, but the case being destroyed, and I am willing to ship the item back I never wanted to just keep it since to get a full refund I would have to ship it back in the first place. I have no clue what I am doing and really would like some help if possible, as I never had to worry about this before.

that does not make sense, and is not eBay policy.
If the seller responds and actually officially enters a 6ish dollar partial refund as allowed by eBay as a way to resolve, and you agree to it, you would get the 6ish dollar partial, and NOT BE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE ITEM.

"reported you" is just the seller blowing smoke.

OP1 year agoHi Jack, I kinda figured it was **bleep** to be given a partial refund but then send the item back. Doesn't make sense there to even return an item but not get a full refund. But I will see what ebay does since after the "reported" message the seller has not done anything since. So I shall wait to involve ebay since that probably will be the best option I assume going forward.

The seller will have 3 days to accept the return and pay return shipping or refund without returning.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.

·1 year agoIt is best to file the item not as described claim and the seller will need to pay for return shipping BUT you will be required to return the FULL item... not just the box.

OP1 year agoHi Janet, would I just stick with what I did for the return or how would I change it since I put the reason as arrived damaged. The seller messaged me directly to say that I am trying to be fraudulent. Thanks!

OP1 year agoWhich I definitely did not mean it like that, I understand the whole thing must go back for the full refund. But this is what he sent me a hour or two later after offering a partial refund and me return the item "Never-mind- I have alerted eBay of this false claim as you noted the product works and now claiming refund for a non-working item. This is fraud and has been reported." So I am just confused, I just want to send it back for the refund since I asked if he may of had a replacement case, he said no replacement case. So I apologize if this is confusing.

The seller will be paying out the same amount to get back the damaged case and sending out a good one as they would if they got back your entire purchase and replaced it.
Not counting labour and time.
So there's that.
Nonetheless, they are being overly suspicious about it.
"You can't cheat an honest man."
People react to reported problems the way they know they would behave.
Go for the refund -- and buy a replacement game from another seller, one who allows returns because they have confidence in their product and their customers.
