Seller shipped to wrong address
Recently I made a holiday purchase. I received a tracking number and tracked the package from origin into my city where it was confirmed delivered by the Post Office. However, it was not delivered to my ebay address of record. I contacted the Post Office but due to privacy rules they cannot provide me with the complete street address. They could only confirm delivery to the address that was on the ship label and confirmed it was not mine. I've asked the seller to gather and send me with the package details (dimensions and weight) and complete shipping address. As the sender the Post Office will provide him with the detail. The seller has been unresponsive to my requests, and I feel like I'm at risk of losing the money invested in this purchase. It was only insured for $100 and the Post Office isn't obligated due to the fact that they delivered it to the address of record. I'm not sure about ebay. They show the package delivered. Any ideas?

OP2 years agoI have read the ebay, Buyer Protection Policy and have opened a case. The issue is that the seller did ship a package and a package was received but it was in fact shipped to a different address in my city. As far as ebay is concerned the package was delivered. They cannot see the exact delivery address either. I spoke with the Post Office again today and the weight of the item shipped was 2.88 oz. The weight of the item I purchased should have been greater than 6 lbs. So, mudshark61369 called it. Thanks for reaching out.

·2 years agoHave you read up on the Ebay, Buyer Protection Policy. You should be able to resolve most issues like this through the Resolution Center.
Click on "Help & Contact" link at top of home page, then scroll down to bottom and click the link that says
"Item has not arrived"

·2 years ago@nedmanjo,
The fact that the seller will not get involved in tracking down the delivery, suggests that they used fake tracking to ship something, an envelope, small empty box, to a different address. If you file an Item Not received (INR) dispute through ebay, it will be turned down, because all their automated system can access is the semi-public tracking info, to look for a Delivered scan. When you receive the message saying the dispute was closed, there will be an Appeal button in it. In order to win the appeal, you need to do some leg work. You have 30 days from the date you receive the message closing the dispute, to appeal.
You will have to go to your P.O. or a local UPS or FedEx store. You need to bring a copy of your order details page which shows your address and the tracking number with you. If you bought using a phone or tablet, you can bring that to show the clerk the order details. You may also want to check the Mfr.'s specs to get the size and weight of the item you were to receive and bring that info as well.
You want to ask the clerk to check the label address against yours, and also to check the Package type/size weight info to see if was is appropriate for what you should have received. If the info does not match up, you ask the clerk to write a note on Company stationary saying in general that the shipping label's address was not yours, and if applicable that the package type/size/weight was not right for what you should have received. Do not ask for specific address or package info, they cannot give it out. Have the clerk print their name then sign and date the note.
Once you have the note, you can appeal the dispute ruling, or contact ebay through their Facebook or Instagram social media pages. (links below) You can write out what happened and what you found out, and add a CLEAR photo or a scan of the note to an Appeal. That should be enough to win an apeal.
If you go the social media route which is recommended, but not always necessary, because the reps on those sites, know about the fake tracking scams you will need to post a photo or scan of the note, have the seller's username and the ebay item number. At the end of your message give them your real and ebay username.

In the future I strongly suggest that you check the feedback profile pages of each seller you intend to buy from, before bidding on or buying their items. You can access a seller's feedback profile page from near the bottom of listing pages. Use the See All Feedback button below where their name is in a large font. On the profile page if the seller has received neutral or negative feedback, click on the numbers of them to read only those comments. Never go by a feedback percentage alone. Some people who have been scammed but did not file a dispute may have left feedback saying they never received their items or it was delivered someplace else.
