Seller Retaliation For Negative Feedback - Removal Request Denied
I recently purchase a lot of watches that arrived in poor condition and required signature for delivery when this was not initially stated in the original listing. When I contacted the seller about this I was ignored and as a result I left feedback describing my experience. Almost immediately after leaving this feedback, the seller purchased an item from me and then immediately requested cancellation. They then proceeded to leave negative feedback on my account as a retaliation for my negative feedback. They stated that there was nothing wrong with their address when I actually had clicked Buyer requested cancellation as the reason for canceling. I contacted eBay and spoke with someone on the phone about this and they assured me their team would look into this and get back to me within 24 to 48 hours. A couple hours went by and I received an email from eBay stating that the feedback was not eligible for removal. In essence, eBay told me that it's okay to leave retaliatory feedback on a buyers account if they leave negative feedback for you as the seller. This is not my first situation with eBay where they have declined to remove feedback that is in clear violation of their policies. How can I get this feedback removed or appeal the case? The representative on the phone assured me that it was a violation and that it would likely be removed. Why isn't eBay willing to follow their own policies on feedback retaliation/extortion?

Since the seller listed the watches as 'Preowned' ... that means they were supposed to be 'fully operational and functions as intended'. You could just have requested a return with the seller paying the return shipping. [The seller has a 30-day return policy.]
The auction for the watches ended only 4 days ago ... so you really had to rush to leave the negative feedback. You say the seller 'ignored' you ... but how much time did you actually give the seller to respond to your message?
I'm not saying that the seller was right in purchasing an item from you and leaving negative feedback ... but you seem to be competitors who both were out to hurt the competition. Maybe you could 'exchange' feedback removals.

·1 year agoTry reporting the buyer and then using the feedback request form. Since the buyer used the official cancellation request, I would think that the feedback should be removed.

You might also want to start an ID just for buying.

OP1 year agoI have already reported the buyer and requested a feedback revision which was denied. I agree that a separate ID for buying would be wise. Thank you for your input!
On the phone with eBay now and they are telling me that it wasn't removed because they can't see that the buyer requested cancellation when I have clear proof that I sent them (via screenshot) and attached to this message (with their info redacted here). It seems I have 0 recourse and eBay isn't honoring their own policies advertised on the site.
