Seller reluctant to Ship My Item due to eBay GPS service He Uses
Just wondering, any North Americans here who have received Uranium items from UK via eBay Global Parcel Shipping without issue?
I only ask b/c I just received a panicked email from a Seller of uranium antiques for an item I just today purchased.
Apparently (according to him) eBay GPS flags items with Uranium/Vaseline Glass descriptors in the listing. Again, according to him these items leaving UK (North American specifically), get flagged as undeliverable due to their 'radioactive' content and get binned/destroyed.
Buyer and seller are reimbursed (less shipping, since item not delivered and a piece of history, sadly gets destroyed). Not sure why this Seller still uses GPS knowing this and claiming a Uranium vase he sent last week from UK to the states was confiscated and destroyed due to GPS policy re: dangerous/banned items. Seems pretty odd to me.
At this point his messages are (less) panicked, but he has dipped out of convos until tomorrow and he can 'figure out what to do'.
Item has been paid for by me in full. Any thoughts on how to move forward here? Anyone had a similar experience?
I do want this item and have paid 60£ for him to ship to Canada. What are my options here. I am feeling that he should cover some of the cost of an alternate shipping service since he stated in emails that he knew this was a potential issue for Buyers outside UK.

·3 years agoEven if the seller uses a different shipping method, it's illegal to import the item into Canada. So unless both you and the seller want to risk legal action by lying on the customs form, there's nothing to do except have the seller cancel and refund. And it's totally wrong to expect the seller to know the customs restrictions of every country to which they might ship. That's your responsibility to research before you buy.

·3 years agoCountry mailing conditions show Canada prohibits radioactive material mailed to their country.
The seller needs to cancel and refund. If they ship it GSP will confiscate it and reimburse you.
Either way you won't find anyone to ship it. Customs will reject it.
