Seller providing incorrect tracking info
I purchased an item supposedly delivered to me. I didn’t receive anything so I went to my PO with tracking email provided by seller. I got a print out of the tracking from label creation to delivery. The delivery address is not my address. Same town, different street. In addition, the package size listed is small and under one pound. The item I ordered is near three feet long. With these discrepancies I supplied to EBay customer service, how can they refuse a refund and close my case? Apparently, there is no money back guarantee.

·2 years agoThat is the fake tracking number scam. In that case, you have to file an item not as described case to win.
If you paid by credit card, contact your card company. If not, the payment service you used.
eBay really needs to address this scam.

OP2 years agoThank you for your response. I never heard of this scam before. These sellers need to be removed from EBay.

·2 years agoThis is a known scam going on several years across the Internet.
Was the seller within the US? If yes - Try opening another case - reason: not as described. Obtain letterhead from the USPS that the delivery did not occur at your registered delivery site. Take a picture of that sheet. Upload it as the picture for the return item & ship a copy of that piece of paper back with the label provided. Upon receipt you should receive a refund or can have ebay force one after several days of receipt.
If unable - file a chargeback with the bank involved for non-delivery.

Do NOT FILE "Item not received" with PayPal if you paid that way OR your credit card. Even though you got nothing. you are going to lose since there is tracking associated with the order that shows "delivered" even though it is FAKE. In these instances, the claim will be forwarded to eBay, who will respond with the same phony "delivery confirmation" and you will lose again.
If you can't get redress from eBay, which has no procedure or policy on what to do available for victims of this scam, you will have to read here to find out what to do, and it typically involves contacting eBay through one of the social media portals. Use the blue message button here:
https://www.facebook.com/eBay/
OR use one of these:
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
https://x.com/askebay
Inform them you are a victim of a fake tracking scam and ask what they require. Sometimes it involves a lot of hoop jumping, sometimes not.
If you go to PayPal to file a claim, eBay will no longer help you. PayPal has a new option so choose "SHIPPED TO WRONG ADDRESS" and bypass the item not received choice.
If you go to your credit card, again you need to file with regards to FRAUD/FAKE TRACKING SCAM instead of claiming you didn't get the package.
As suggested in the previous post, filing a "not as described case" with eBay has been reported to work as well. When you do this, you will have to post a picture in the claim. It really doesn't matter what that is, but when you don't get a return label or MONEY IN ADVANCE to return "a box of air", you need to return to the case and ask eBay to step in. This is often no recommended due to it simply beating the eBay INR denial bot at its own game.

OP2 years agoThank you for the info. What makes the process so frustrating is that you can’t talk to a live person. Maybe I should abandon EBay and stick with Amazon.

You can eventually talk to a live person through the call back option on eBay, but you are simply connected to a foreign call center agent that is required to tell you that "tracking shows delivered" (i.e. sorry to be you). Use one of the social media links provided above in message #3. These are chat sessions, but you are connected to US representatives that do have the authority to help you if they so choose.
This practice needs to be addressed.
Indeed it does. It has been going on for over a decade, and is one of the most successful scams out there if you happen to be a criminal.

·2 years agoWell this experience has “enlightened†me to EBay money back guarantee. From now on I’ll only order inexpensive items which, unfortunately, hurts honest sellers. But Buyer Beware is true.

·2 years agoI’m appealing to my credit card company as a fraudulent action. I have proof of package size and address delivered to.

·2 years agoThe suggestion involving a shipment was if the option exists still.
Oh but you ARE shipping something back with the label as a "not as described". I did not suggest a non-delivery. You are returning to the seller exactly what you received & documented in the case. In no place did I suggest you do NOT ship anything back.
