seller, or his proxy, somehow found out my maximum bid within 3 seconds bid $1 less and cost me $100

How did the seller do this? Original bid was $250, {afterwards it shows that original bidders maximum bid was $285}. My maximum bid of $390, using Bidslammer, was put in 10 seconds before the end of the auction. Within 3 seconds someone found out my max bid was $390 and bid $389 so I had to pay the $390 instead of the $286 that I should have gotten it for. Anyone see this happening on other auctions.

It is still very relevant. How many times do bidders (from the creation of ebay till now (2023) or infinity ) not understand most of the action happens in the last 5 seconds?
