Seller offered my friend to sell outside of eBay and attempted scam. Need help for reporting.
As the title says, this user provided their information to sell outside of eBay and asked for payment as Friends and Family so my friend would have no way to get a refund if he was scammed. I told him to report the user and he has done so multiple times over the past month but no reports have been responded to. I am sure eBay is ignoring those who do this on purpose so this seller can continue to make money for them as most reports are responded to the same day and not take weeks or months like these ones.
I believe he continues to do this as he immediately provided his contact information with no questions asked.
Is there a way to report this user directly to someone else?
Does this result in eBay accounts being blocked?
Thank you very much.

·1 year agoIs the other seller selling the same type of items as you, digital items you don't own or have the rights to sell?

How did you tell your friend to report the seller? If you had them use the Report item button, that would not work since most likely there was no mention of paying outside of ebay on the listing page.
To properly report the violation you need to give your friend the link below. Have them use the blue report seller button on the page that opens. When they get to the text box, they should write out briefly what happened, and ask the rep to check the messages between your friend and the seller.

FYI, if your friend bought from a new seller, they may have tried to get paid outside of ebay, because they do not know about the 21 day hold placed on all new sellers first few payments, by ebay. Many new sellers do not know about the hold or how to deal with it to get the funds released sooner.

OP1 year agoThanks for your help. He reported through direct messages by clicking the small question mark and received the usual automatic email "We'll look into your report" but nothing else. Also the seller is not a small one or a new one at all. I will tell him to use that link.
Have a nice day.

·1 year agoThat's all you need to do; your friend does not have to file more than 1 report. Doing it through messages is the most efficient way to do it.
Of course eBay is not going to send any updates; they will not tell you about actions taken on another member's account.
It was reported - at this point you need to let it go.

OP1 year agoUhm do you know which kind of action does eBay take in such cases? Block accounts?
Btw I was talking about updates because another report he did for another reason got actually answered with "We looked into your report"

·1 year agoThat only happens when you report a listing.
As for actions eBay takes, it depends whether the seller has had other policy violations. If eBay sees abuse the actions can range from a warning to an account suspension.
