Seller not in the USA, but item is in & ships from in USA - don't want to send my money overseas
Hi everyone,
I have been trying to get an answer about eBay doing something about adding a sellers location to an auction page, even if their item is in a USA warehouse and ships within the united states. I use the the filter "item location" to help weed out some of these overseas sellers, but it doesn't get rid of all of them. I have nothing against anyone living outside of the USA, everyone needs to make a living anyway they can, I just don't want to send my money overseas directly, I'd like to help out American families and veterans working from home to make ends meet. My issue is having to click a sellers name, which goes to their auctions page, then click their name again to go to their "profile" page that lists "categories" "shop" "about" and "feedback" below their name, then having to click "about" to see what country they are in really gets aggravating some days when I am looking to buy something and have to sift through dozens of auctions from sellers not in the USA.
I hope someone out there can bring this issue to those who would fix this at eBay to maybe add this option to "filters" or add a sellers location to every auction page.
I don't know if anyone else feels this way about who they're buying from and where their money is going, but I like to know I am helping people in communities across this country in most if not all of my eBay purchases.
And yes, I know many things are made outside the USA, so odds are I buy things regularly made elsewhere, and some sellers in the USA are purchasing things from overseas suppliers, that isn't what I am talking about here. 🙂

·2 years agoI think your post was clear enough. But I think it's safe to say that a large percentage of eBay's 135 million users have ways they think eBay should be changed to conform to their personal buying preferences. It's an unavoidable fact that eBay can't reprogram the site to address all of them. Even if someone here could "bring this issue to those who would fix this at eBay" (we can't, we're members like you) eBay would just file it in the circular file. Sometimes you have to learn a lesson from the Reverend Jagger and learn to use the methods eBay already provides.

While not being able to click on a sellers feedback number at the top of a listing page to be taken directly to their profile page is gone, for now at least. You can go to it directly by scrolling down a listing page to where you see the seller's username in a large font. Below it will be a few FB comments and below them an oval with See all feedback in it. Clicking on it takes you directly to their feedback profile page, to the their country of registry.
Using the "U.S. only" filter doesn't always work because ebay helped many foreign (mostly chinese) sellers register in this country. Some may ship from U.S. locations, but others drop ship from China. Sometimes they don't have items in their U.S. locations so they come from china. Often a quick look on a results page will show items with:

I have done it this way when I see it and I do forget it's there now that they moved it to the bottom of an auction page, I guess when I am trying to sort through auctions I get frustrated with how many auctions I have to weed through to find a US based seller that are shipping from a US based location. And as I have stated I do know some or all of my money may or will end up overseas because of where an item is made, there is no way of getting around that and that was never my issue, my issue is buying from someone in the US who needs to make a living through their sales here, I do know people who can not physically work outside their home, so finding US based sellers lets me know I am helping them out, if I buy from a overseas seller it bypasses that US seller and they are out what might have helped them make ends meet for the week or month. I am not trying to keep my money in the country, because that is never going to happen with how things work, I just don't want to bypass the US seller. I think my "title" was misleading and may have **bleep** some off thinking I had some bigoted reason behind my post, or I wasn't clear enough or both, which is probably the case here.

·2 years agoYou are still helping Americans even when buying from those sellers even if your money goes offshore in the end. Someone has to deliver it along with the people in the US based warehouse need to earn a living too. As much US capital that moves around going to offshore investments etc., our pertinence is not even a drop in the bucket.

OP2 years agoI do understand that, that is not the issue here, so maybe I wasn't clear on getting my point across. I know many US sellers do or may have overseas suppliers, so I know my money isn't staying in this country. I did say; "And yes, I know many things are made outside the USA, so odds are I buy things regularly made elsewhere, and some sellers in the USA are purchasing things from overseas suppliers, that isn't what I am talking about here." So yes, I know at some point much of our money ends up over seas someplace, but I would like to support families and especially veterans here, some of whom I know can only work from home. And yes I do know if I buy from an over seas seller there are a lot of US jobs from the warehouse to delivery which is helping people make a living and I am all for that, but buying from an over seas seller bypasses the US seller and they are out of a sale and maybe wont make ends meet because of it.
Does that make more sense, or did I still not convey my thoughts accurately again. ðŸ˜
