Seller Messed up shipping label
Hi so I recently just purchased a big ticket item with free shipping, and I haven’t received tracking on it yet but it says it has shipped. I recently contacted the seller to see what was going since it’s been 3 almost 4 days. He claims that eBay messed up the tracking label and that he had to wait for that one to be cancelled before he can buy another one. I’m wondering if I’m being scammed.

This is the Ebay Money Back Guarantee Policy
When it allows you to file an item not received claim, file it.
This seller is not to be relied upon.
Prepare to, if necessary open a payment dispute with your credit card issuer, as soon as the bill appears.

Disputing a charge with your credit card should always be your last step. Once you do so your coverage under eBay's Money Back Guarantee ends. Your goal is to have as many avenues of dispute as possible.
Federal law dictates that credit card issuers have to allow disputes for 60 days from the date you receive the bill with the disputed charge. So it's not necessary to dispute as soon as the bill appears.

·1 year agoThe seller is making stuff up to you for some reason. they don't need ebay to cancel the shipping label. they can do that themselves and buy another. it takes sellers about 10 seconds to cancel out a label and another 10 seconds to purchase a new one. I can't figure out what the angle to scam would be so the seller probably has no clue what they are doing and is just making stuff up as they go to tell you. ebay is very safe for buyers so if it doesn't show up file an item not recieved or if it shows up and isn't what you thought you were going to get file the return as item not described. if you do have to file a return/ refund absol;utely do not listen to anything the seller is trying to tell you about how to handle it keep it through the ebay return process and you will be safe.

·1 year agoIn addition, for others out there....the seller needs to reprint a proper label and ship the item according to the listing. A seller's "screw up" in this manor should never punish the buyer. Seller listed, buyer bought and paid, seller ships. Seller then fixes his own problems on his own time & money.

·1 year agoThat doesn't sound good. It takes a couple weeks for a cancelled label to get refunded.
Seller can void the label with a couple clicks though the refund is delayed.
There was a recent glitch where the USPS labels were printing out as hazmat..... Jfyi
The bottom line is one day after the latest estimated delivery date provided by eBay when you purchased the item, you can file a Item Not Received case by going to your purchase history and find the item and there is a pull down. Select "I did not receive it".
The seller will have 3 business days to get the item delivered with a delivery scan from the carrier.
If that does not happen, eBay will refund you. Just check back into the case on the 4th business day and ask eBay to step in.
If you open any type of eBay case, do not close the case for any reason until you get your refund, regardless of what the seller might tell you.

OP1 year agoI messaged him again and he also stated that eBay had to confirm the details which cause them to cancel the shipping label. They also had to re-verify the shipping label. So I think it may be glitch or something I’ll give it a little bit more time since I really want this item.

·1 year agoNot sure, but that delay could be as much as a month before the sellers sees the refund. Plus there is never a notification of the refund going through, so if the seller is a novice, and it sounds like it, then they may never know when they are refunded. Cancel this transaction as not received when the time comes.
The seller will suffer late delivery, no tracking update and items not received hits. These sellers will not be around long

·1 year agoi cant really say if you are or are not being scammed.
I do know there was an issue with USPS labels this week through eBay.
I also know that the seller can cancel the label and it will be 14+ days to be refunded for the label.
There is zero reason for the seller not to purchase a correct label with their own funds. This seller doesnt need to wait they just need to pay.
Just as an FYI - sellers do not have to use tracking on shipments but it is best practice to.

This seller is telling tales.
Stop messaging them.
I have been a seller for many years and can tell you eBay does not care about details on canceled shipping labels AND cannot verify anything like that.
The more you put the more I think this "seller" is going to try some type of scam.
Can you please give us the eBay item number?

OP1 year agoThis the item number 256747070442, I meant to say they canceled his shipping label because they couldn’t confirm or verify the information on the shipping label.
klhmdg
·1 year ago@bruygar_0 I cant get that item number to come up.
Sellers do not need to verify or confirm the information on the label.
eBay does not do that either.
Items are shipped to the address the buyer inputs.
Nothing else needs to be done.
All I can say is keep an eye on it and 1 day after the estimated delivery if you dont have it file for your refund.
You should read the MBG too.

·1 year agoI agree with your advice. Here's a link to the listing in question. The seller seems to be experienced, but recently did get a negative feedback for refusing to ship:

Here's a link to eBay's buyer protection policy, which they call the "Money Back Guarantee" (MBG):
