@artemister,
If you check the Bids/Offers section of your My eBay Summary, there may be a message there. Sellers can end an auction with bids on it early for a couple of reasons. Inexperienced sellers may do that if they do not get many early bids, and worry they will lose money on it. Maybe while packing the item up they broke it, or maybe they cancelled your bid to accept a BIN offer. Possibly ebay ended the auction because of an issue as @reallynicestamps wrote.
Thanks. There's no message from the seller, anywhere. And I made an offer (which was rejected) and then a bid identical to the offer. Seller has under ten feedback. I needed this particular item for a set. The description given was very incomplete. I'm very familiar with what they're selling but there's wide variation. There were no other bids. Listing ended early. No explanation. No message. Nothing. I used the contact seller option yesterday so I'll see what happens. It's frustrating because I'm a long time buyer, very responsible.
EBay ended the auction because they saw some problem with it--or with the seller.
The seller got a Best Offer which they felt was better (and faster) than they would get when the Auction was over.
The seller could also have a Buy It Now price on an Auction, but not in this case since that would disappear with the first bid, and you had two bids on it already.
Thanks. This is an odd situation. I needed the item to complete a set and made an offer, which was rejected. I then made the bid the same as the offer. No other bids appeared at all. I ignored the under ten feedback rating and ignored the fact that the description was almost nonexistent because I've been looking for it for over a year. It's not rare but the luck of the draw. Suddenly it disappears. No warning. I checked everywhere. No message from this seller and also suddenly no other listings, either. I messaged the seller so I'll see where that goes. It's frustrating because I'm a responsible, long time buyer.

Bid your maximum.
Bid late.
