Seller demanding positive feedback because they need funds released
Hi, just ordered something and a newish seller is demanding me to leave positive feedback because they need to "pay bills tomorrow". I would like to know if leaving positive feedback will make me unable to open a case if items arrive damaged or don't get delivered.

" Nothing personal against you, but I never have and never will leave feedback till I get my item. Plus, positive feedback will not get your funds released sooner."

Leaving positive feedback will have no effect on your ability to win a subsequent claim should you need to file one.
Also, leaving positive feedback will have no effect on when your seller’s funds are released.
Buyers have reported having no difficulty winning a dispute after leaving glowing feedback for the wrong seller.
At one time, receiving feedback helped a seller’s funds be released quicker. That is no longer the case.

·2 years agoIt is never a good idea to leave FB (Buyer) before you receive the item. You don't have to respond back if you do not and wait until you get the item. You may be able to Win your case if you end up disputing it but don't complicate things. Keep it simple. Either way the Seller can not leave you negative feedback so waiting will not hurt you in that way.

I do not completely agree with klhmdg, about ignoring the seller or leaving neutral feedback. If the seller has uploaded a tracking number to the order ebay will know when the package has been received. If they have not you may want to reply to one of their messages and tell them if they have a tracking number they can manually post it from their sold item page. YOu may also want to add to the message to do a Google search for "Payments on hold - ebay" Then from the results list to open the one with an address that reads export (dot) ebay (dot) com. You cannot post link addresses in ebay messages so they have to be disguised. That link has more info about the hold than the standard ebay help article.
As for feedback, I would say your choices would be either a positive one if the package arrives within a day or so of the last estimated delivery date, and the item is as described. Or not to leave one at all. Unfortunately, ebay is the cause of many new seller's worries about shipping and payouts. They bury that info deep in the Getting started info, when it should be one of the first things mentioned.

Your seller doesn't seem to understand that leaving feedback will not release the funds ebay is holding. A tracking number showing Delivered is what will do that. A positive feedback will reinforce the delivered scan. Even then it can take 3-5 days for the funds to get deposited into their account.
Tell them to come to the Community if they want info about ebay.

OP2 years agoI see, I also would like to know if leaving positive feedback would make me illegible to open a case (in case something goes wrong)

Yes, it could hurt your chances of winning a dispute if you open one for not as described, later on. Leaving feedback is the last thing a buyer should do in a transaction.

·2 years ago@geodabro No, Positive FB will not make you ineligible for opening a case.
I might leave Neutral FB and state seller is harassing you to leave FB.
FB has nothing to do with releasing funds.
New sellers can have funds held up to 30 days.
Tracking and delivery can help get funds released sooner.
I would not respond to the seller. Just ignore him.

·2 years agoNo it would not.... BUT.....
Feedback left for sellers helps BUYERS to make a good choice on who to buy from. If all sellers had good false feedback then it would mean nothing.
