Seller cancelled auction
I won auction sent payment and told him tax to high he said not his job.so I called my bank to dispute the excess tax. He didn't. Like that and said I should have contacted eBay not my bank. He said I cancelled the sale he told a non truth.

Since your seller had nothing to do with the tax you were charged ... you pretty much forced the cancellation by disputing the charge with your bank. The seller was unable to charge you less tax ... so they gave you a full refund. What did you expect them to do?

·3 years agoWhat makes you believe that the seller has any control over the state sales tax a buyer is charged?
Do you believe that to be true also of your local WalMart?

·3 years agoReally your blaming the seller for the taxes ? I would have cancelled the sale blocked you and reported you to eBay for harassment. Sellers don't tax you the government does. Do you do this when you go to the market etc. Only one not telling the truth is you .

·3 years agoThe seller is correct, it's not his job. These days if you purchase just about anything taxable online, the merchant is required to collect sales tax, it's not a policy ebay or your seller set in motion, it was passed by congress. I live in Florida, so I pay the 7% state sales tax. I haven't had ebay overcharge me as of yet.

·3 years agoDoes the entire state of FL have the same sales tax rate?
I ask because I live in NE Ohio. A county and city somewhat north of me has a higher sales tax rate than I do and a county south of me has a rate about .5% less.

·3 years agoDepending where you are, there is local town, city, county, state, province & national taxes possible. I would imagine you also get charged the same taxes on other purchases you make & know your local tax rate already. This is not the first time you have been taxed. Learn what your tax liabilities are as, all major internet sites are required to collect & remit tax, same as brick & mortar.

·3 years agoAs a buyer, you are responsible for knowing your obligations, whether they be sales tax or import and customs taxes. (I'm not sure which you're complaining about but those are on you.)

·3 years agoYou may not be aware but most banks levy a charge as much as $20 on a seller when a charge is disputed. So you may have cost the seller by disputing something over which they have no control. You were in the wrong here, so it would be best to just walk away and leave things be.

·3 years agoI would’ve canceled the sale too, sellers have no control over the amount of tax a buyer is charged.
eBay charges the sales tax based on what your city and/or state has mandated to charge for the purchase, some states also require a tax on shipping as well.
Not happy about having to pay sales tax, talk to your state representatives.

·3 years agoIf you think the sales tax is to high, you should contact your state and complain to them, they are ones that tells Ebay what to charge you.
Besides canceling your order, they probably added you to their blocked buyers list and I have a feeling you'll be added to more sellers blocked list.
