Seller canceled order on silver coin, what are my recourse options?
So I bought a silver dollar off a best offer price sent to me by a seller. Within a day, they canceled the order, with the reason given being "item out of stock/damaged". I have my suspicions that with the price of silver rising rapidly that they didn't want to sell well below the spot price of silver, even though they're the one who offered to do so.
What are my options here since they canceled without any communication to me about why they had to do so?

OP8 months agoDoes ebay no longer allow the buyer to leave negative feedback on orders where the seller sold something that they claim to not have? That's great and all that they'll get a strike against their account but it doesn't exactly help anyone else considering a purchase from the same seller to know that they've canceled orders in the past.

·8 months agoIf you didn't pay, there's no transaction/no order to leave feedback for.
Always been this way.

As already stated, there's no requirement that a seller communicate with a buyer - the seller canceled the order, and by the reason chosen, they will take the hit for it as far as getting a defect from ebay.
Anyone guessing as to why the order was cancelled is just speculation. While it's certainly disappointing, at least the seller didn't put the cancellation on you by choosing 'buyer requested' or 'problem with address'.

It is not required that buyers and sellers communicate with each other.
And eBay cannot force a seller to ship an order.
If the seller cancels too many orders as being out of stock, eBay will take care of him in a way he may not like.

·8 months agoYour only option is to accept the cancellation and be thankful the seller issued you a full refund immediately and purchase the item from someone else. Your suspicions is just what it is a suspicion. The reason they give was "item out of stock" which Ebay does handle that on the sellers defect record. Your hand in the situation are over.
