Seller Canceled Because They Want More Money?
Has this happened to anyone else? A seller has canceled my sale because they insist that they want more money (I have a message that confirms this). I have told them this is against eBay policies and I assumed they were possibly young (they confirmed they aren't) or inexperienced on eBay (they aren't again). Is there anything I can do?

At 09:31 on 01.16.25 I purchased two items for $25.00 each. There were only two available
They came with a leather necklace.
At 12:49 CST on 01.16.25 I recieved this email:
"Unfortunately, the seller had to cancel your order due to the following reason: Buyer asked to cancel the item(s) in this order".
I DID NOT "ASK TO CANCEL THE ITEMS"!!!
At 14:30 CST the Seller posts two of the exact same items, (with the exact same pictures), I had purchased, added a silver chain and is now asking $65.00 for each of them.

The seller violated eBay policy by stating the cancellation was buyer requested when it wasn't. You should report them here.

Seller has sold 12 items. (8 in the last 90 days) A bit inexperienced.
but yes, a failed action by the seller.
Item was a "fixed price" listing, so they chose how much they wanted.

·1 year agoAccept the refund and move on. You can leave feedback but there is a change where Ebay may remove cancellation feedback. Buy the item from someone else who is more reputable. Recommendation is to view feedback before purchase or bid. If you see a lot of bad feedback especially recently or if the buyer if fairly new then know the risk involved. Also know the risk if say this seller is an international seller you run a risk as well.

What @buyselljack2016 wrote is probably the reason why it happened. You claim they aren't inexperienced, but did you look at their feedback profile page to see if they have any feedback as a seller? You have 62 feedback and a 100% rating, but none for selling. The same may be true of your seller.
New or inexperienced sellers run into two traps, First they take ebay's bad advice to start auctions at a low price "To encourage bidding" which often does not work out well for them.
The second one is they do not know about the 21-30 day hold, ebay places on all new sellers or those who haven't sold anything in over a year, first few payments. All they know is payments are marked as Pending so they don't think they have cleared and do not ship.

OP1 year ago🙂I actually have selling experience (but from ages ago) - I've had my account for over 20 years (EEEP) so I suspect some of the stuff doesn't show up anymore. The seller by their own claim said that they were experienced selling (though their account seems new - I suspect they may have several?). I was patient at first, and explained that they can't reneg on a deal, or they may face consequences from the platform, and they replied that they can essentially do whatever they want without ramifications. So. That was interesting.

·1 year agoHappens often. Sellers go with the eBay suggestion to start the listing at $.?? but then the listing does not attract the expected attention, and the seller chooses not to, perhaps cannot afford to take a $$ beating.

OP1 year agoI was honestly so stunned! I guess I'm just old school - you bid, you pay. You list, you mail out the item. If you're unhappy, too bad. You agreed to a deal.

·1 year agoDid you pay for the item? You may be able to leave appropriate feedback then. That seller received a major defect to his account from Ebay for canceling, a few of those and Ebay will close his account.

OP1 year agoI contacted eBay and even though I was refunded they let me leave feedback and noted what happened! Thank you so much - this is super helpful. 🙂
