Seller badgering me to change feedback
I bought an item I knew at very low cost to try it out. I was ready to be surprised or disappointed. It turned out unsuitable for the intended purpose. I provided feedback stating the issues. The seller now sends multiple messages a day offering to refund (I never ask for that) and send me “giftsâ€.
I responded saying my review was accurate and would stand. The messages continue.
Am I wrong?

OP2 years agoThank you to all those who responded. You are all correct; the seller has made good faith efforts to rectify the situation. He should be rewarded for that. I have reached out to the seller to make a revision.

·2 years agoNot sure what was expected for $10 a dozen................... from China.
Negative seems a bit harsh.
As we say here, thanks for posting.

·2 years agoYou didn't really think you would get a quality item from China did you?
That's why their stuff is so cheap.

"I bought an item I knew at very low cost to try it out. I was ready to be surprised or disappointed. It turned out unsuitable for the intended purpose".
You paid a very low price for an item, basically with the idea that you might be disappointed. YOU took a risk that did not pan out, for you. Then you leave a negative for the seller, for a product they did not manufacture? So far, 203 people up until now have viewed this topic many of them sellers, as are some who have replied to this topic so far, who have probably placed you on their BBL.
If you go back to the listing you bought from and scroll way down the page you will see
That is where you can review the product, not in Feedback. I suggest like other have that you ask the seller to send a feedback revision.

·2 years agoSeller sold 118,000 items and you left the first negative. That hurts and is why seller is requesting feedback revision. If i were you i would revise it. When you get a negative you have to look at for a whole year, you will understand. Seller sold this product, seller did not manufacture it.

You used feedback improperly. I hope the seller's request for a feedback revision hasn't timed out.
Buyers who misuse or misunderstand feedback may find themselves blocked by sellers who don't want their reputations to be negatively impacted by buyers who don't understand how feedback works.

·2 years agoTo answer your question, yes, you're wrong, for all the reasons everyone else has stated. EBay's Feedback Misuse Policy specifically states that "Feedback should only be related to the transaction." So it's not the appropriate place to rate the product. And if the seller is savvy enough to know that he'll be able to get eBay to remove your feedback. Do the right thing and ask him to send you a feedback revision form.

I feel this is a nice seller trying to solve a problem.
The seller didn't make the items.
"very low cost"..."to try it out"...hurting a seller's account is not the way to go.
Do a nice thing...revise the feedback and take a refund.

·2 years agoYou bought the item with some reservations, according to your first sentence... the seller shipped the item, and offered a refund in response to your negative feedback. Did you bother to contact the seller before leaving them a neg? It doesn't sound like it. As others have stated, you rate the transaction in feedback, not the item... As a seller yourself, you really should know better.

·2 years agoFeedback is not supposed to be used to rate the item, only the seller. You should remove it.

·2 years agoIf the seller offered no resolution (refund, return or anything else) than i can see leaving negative feedback. If the seller shipped out the item, responded quickly to you messaging them you were disappointed (offered return, refund ect.) than its more a disappointment on the product (review of product) than the seller (negative feedback)
Some may argue that the seller should not sell inferior products (which can be subjective) and deserve negative feedback but i think how the Seller responded to your disappointment is more important.
Why not give the seller a break if they tried to make good on the deal?
Mistakes happen and lessons are learned.

·2 years agoHi @jnht2
Your negative feedback was a review of the product, rather than of the entire transaction. [Product reviews are done elsewhere on eBay.]
Unless the entire transaction was negative … I believe you may have harmed the seller’s reputation unfairly. I would consider revising it.
