I purchase a cordless tool battery from an eBay seller. who advertised that the battery came with a 5-year warranty. The battery I purchased failed with in under a year. the seller will not reply to my 3 messages I sent. I find no links for help with this issue on ebay's help pages, all the help is for the seller/merchant, and there is no link to ask eBay to step in on behalf of the buyer, but there is for the seller.?????
How do I get ebay to step in and resolve this issue with the seller?
I just want a replacement battery that does work or a refund.
Does eBay have any rules for sellers about the wording of an item offered for sale. Such as advertising warranties, for products they are selling, and then not honoring that warranty? Is this not a form of fraud?

OP3 weeks agoAnd so, in my case, the seller didn't list/name the battery mfg. thus, it seems the seller is making the warranty offer. tricky! treacherous territory for a buyer. Ooh what we learn afterwords! I've learned a great deal! thank you everyone!

·3 weeks agoA side note for what it is worth...most batteries like this are pro rated warranties...so in this case you would receive 80% off of new batteries as you used the other 20%...assuming you are covered. If they lasted 4 years, you would get 20% off of new batteries. Most people think if they fail within the warranty period it is full replacement, it's usually not

If it was a seller from China, their warranties are about as good as their products.

·3 weeks agoEbay gives you a 30 day moneyback guarantee and that's it. They have nothing to do with this situation. You need to contact the manufacture of the cordless tool battery. If they refuse to help then you are out of luck. Personally I would never purchase items on Ebay which I am assuming has an extended warranty unless it's an American made well known manufacture which I am dealing with a dealer.

·3 weeks agoWarranties are through the manufacturer, not the seller. Unfortunately most manufacturers only honor warranties on items sold by authorized dealers, which most eBay sellers aren't. In any event, once eBay's 30-day Money Back Guarantee ends there's nothing they can do to help you.
