Search Is Broken
There are so many things broken about Ebay since they've been rewriting the whole web site the last couple of years... favorite features have disappeared, other features that used to be reliable are flaky and error-prone (just showing a list of my bids fails about half the time and requires a page refresh)... but this is maybe the worst: search is flaky, dodgy, inconsistent, mysterious, unreliable...
I've seen this happen many times where I know for a fact an item is there, because I have it open in another browser, or on another computer, and yet I can't get it to come up in a search. I'll enter a list of terms I know for a fact are all in the title, such as "fender stratocaster custom shop 1959 aged black super heavy relic" and I'll get a long list of items, some of them not even matching all the terms, BUT NOT THE ITEM I'M LOOKING FOR, WHICH HAS EVERY SINGLE TERM IN THE TITLE.
Don't start with "you spelled it wrong" because I've checked and rechecked this dozens of times, and I know it's broken. I'm guessing it must be an intentional "feature", something mysterious about their algorithm where certain sellers have paid extra and they're trying to steer you to those items, or maybe it's some AI component trying to make educated smarty-pants guesses about the "most relevant items", but it's very frustrating to know that ebay just doesn't work right and there's nothing you can do about it.
I just want it to work in a really straightforward, predictable way. Show me the items the match the search terms, and only those items. Stuff that people paid money to list shouldn't be disappearing into a black hole.
