scammers on FB
Hello Has anyone tried to purchase something from FB and they report it is from eBay Motors? I have received a purchase order in "PDF" format in regards to an inquiry about a purchase from someone on FB. This person says they use eBay Motors. Wondering if anyone else knows about the scammers or if it is legitimate?

This is a total scam. eBay has nothing whatsoever to do with items listed elsewhere.
And we are so glad that you asked before falling for this. So many times, people wait until AFTER they have paid and then ask. Quite often, it will be someone in desperate need of a low-priced reliable car and their money loss is catastrophic.
As someone else here remarked, this must still be working for the scammers since they are still doing this.

That old scam has been around for years, and we hear about it all the time.

·9 months agoNo legitimate seller offers a vehicle for less than the wholesale price a car dealer would pay them.
No legitimate seller uses FB stating that eBay will handle the transaction,
No legitimate seller refuses to allow a vehicle to be inspected.
No legitimate seller refuses cash at the time of pick up.
No legitimate seller offers free shipping.
No legitimate independent seller sends an invoice - not in world anyway.
No legitimate seller asks for gift cards as payment.
If you see a vehicle on the internet that you are interested in, go inspect the vehicle, if you are unable to inspect it yourself, hire someone to do it for you.
The LURE is the price - I've seen totally restored vehicles on FB and other sites that are drop-dead gorgeous and priced far less than what a vehicle that needs a total restoration would cost. No one, other than a close family member, is going to give you a fantastic deal on a vehicle.
Scammers spend their days attempting scams, and are professionals at it, learn the warning signs, there are always red flags that people ignore because the price is a give-away price.

eBay does not have storage facilities for vehicles, boats etc., or a policy that ships a vehicle to you for free with a 5 day inspection period. As @klhmdg wrote, this scam has been around for a long time.

·9 months agoIf you can find the item on eBay then it is on eBay.
If you ONLY find it on FB and you get a pdf purchase order and they want gift cards or zelle or....
Then it is not an eBay purchase.
As long as there has been Craigs List and FB there have been scammers pulling this - It must work because they are still doing it.
