Scammer alert
I’m pretty sure I got scammed, even though I carefully checked the seller feedback but most of the recent feedback are from new accounts, and I just see it now. Long story short, I ordered a Yeti through ebay, the item was marked shipped but tracking didnt updated a few days later. Whenever the tracking is updated, it is showing delivered but the picture is showing someone’s else house. I went further and tried to contact Fedex but got an error saying the address isnt matching. I know now this seller bought and shipped something from Target to a random house in my zipcode. He keeps marking himself on vacation after I contacted him also. Since I bought it with my platinum card, I know I will have a second layer protection but a part of it is Ebay giftcard. Has anybody experience this and been able to get money back?

·1 year agoIf the buyer actually receives something, the buyer can file a "not as described" return within thirty days for a full refund. In fact, any buyer on eBay can file a "not as described" return, provided the buyer is willing and able to return exactly what was received.
If tracking shows delivery but nothing arrives and the buyer can obtain some hard copy documentation (email is not good enough) that says that the package was not delivered to the buyer's address or documentation that shows the weight or size of the package cannot possibly correspond to the ordered item, or the shipping date precedes the order, then the buyer may be able to contact eBay via social media direct message, provide that documentation to eBay and get help with "false tracking".

With "false tracking" if you go through a standard automated "item not received" case, on the other hand, you will lose the case because the seller can provide tracking that appears to show delivery. If you then appeal, you may have some additional options at that point. It appears that eBay has added a new appeal option regarding "delivery to another address", but I do not know how effective that is compared to contacting eBay via social media with documentation and explicitly mentioning "false tracking", which seems to work provided you can obtain the necessary documentation.
If you are unable to get help through eBay, you may have recourse through your payment method, though you should probably exhaust all your eBay options first since once you go through your payment method, eBay will no longer help with that transaction.
In general, you can avoid a lot of headaches by choosing to purchase only from established sellers that have recent and past positive feedback as a seller for selling items in the same category that you intend to buy. If someone is selling a dozen apple watches, but has no feedback, or only has feedback as a buyer, or only has feedback for selling dress patterns or fishing lures (actual examples I have seen), perhaps wait until they have a track record of positive feedback for selling electronics before you buy from them. Avoid sellers that appear to be drop shipping -- that are registered in one location and shipping from another, or that appear to have copied listings at random from another site with multiple quantities and stock photos, where it is unlikely that an individual would be able to profitably ship such items using retail shipping.

If you are getting the tracking info with a delivered scan and a photo of someone else's house. Filing an Item Not Received (NR) dispute through ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) system will get turned down the first time, because it is looked at by a computer that can only look for a delivered scan, not the address or anything else.
What you can do is contact ebay through one of its social media platforms (Links Below)
You want to have the seller's username and the ebay item number which is just below the item title in your Order details. Write out what happened, basically saying the tracking shows item was delivered to a different address in my zip code. Save a screen shot of the FedEx tracking info showing tracking number and photo to add to the message and ask the rep who fields your message, to do a Google map street view of your address and residence and compare the photo to it. Sign the message with your real and ebay username.
The reps who man those platforms are actual ebay employees that have the power to issue refunds, and they are allowed to use their computers to search things like maps online.
Use the send private message option on the S.M. platform you choose.

" Since I bought it with my platinum card, I know I will have a second layer protection but a part of it is Ebay giftcard".
When a split payment is made the funds are returned to the original sources your platinum card and the gift card balance. Refunds to credit cards may take up to 30 days to appear on your card statement, but a few days after being told a refund is being issued call the number on the back of your card to ask if a refund is being processed. The amount taken from your gift card will be refunded to its balance but how long that takes to happen isn't known.
