Scam seller scam platform (eBay)
Summary: lifesources-us shared their frustration with a return process on a platform, where they accidentally selected the wrong return reason for a defective item and couldn't change it afterward. As a result, they are required to pay shipping costs despite the item being broken. mudshark61369 suggested contacting customer service directly through the platform's official channels to resolve the issue, emphasizing the importance of selecting the correct return reason in future transactions.
I went to put defective item for a return reason, it said found better price accidentally I went to change it BEFORE submitting it, but it is LOCKED once you choose even if you do not fill out the rest of the return request. You simply cannot changed it. I called in and... Ebay will not change it and I have to pay shipping on a $3.75 cent item that is broken upon recieved and they aren't doing anything about it. I am more that mad it is not the amount it is I paid money to get nothing. This is a NOT a reputable platform this is insane I am pissed and NO I will not change the verbage here.

·Sep 9, 2026 at 1:09 PMSo you bought an item for $3.75 and received a broken item and when you filed a return on it, you made a mistake on the reason you chose, and now you are pissed because eBay won't change your reason. Is this correct? eBay has millions of sellers selling billions of items. If you make a mistake, that is on you. Can you imagine if everyone who made a "mistake" tried to contact eBay to fix it for them?
You are also a seller so you should have some inkling of how eBay works, especially the Money Back Guarantee.
By the way, it is against eBay policy to leave a positive feedback with negative remarks. If reported, you can get a mark on your account for that.

There are 10 reasons for filing a return request on the Reason for return page. The top 5 are considered Buyer's Remorse returns, the others are Not as described reasons. How did you manage to click on the wrong one?
If a seller had a No Returns policy they could reject the return because you chose a Buyer's remorse reason.
"I called in and... Ebay will not change it".
Did you look up a customer service number online, or use the Contact us button at the bottom of an ebay page? If you used a number you found online you did not speak to anyone connected with ebay, so you should try using the contact us button and select get a cal back to speak to an ebay customer service rep.
Make sure to explain exactly what happened and ask them to file a return for defective or not as described. If they will not do that, then either ship it back on your dime to get a refund or just let it go and if there is a next time, make sure you select the correct reason for a return.
