Sad
What should I do? We won a 800.00 tent in an auction. 2 days later we received a message that the seller sold the tent before the “Auction was overâ€. My son is devastated. We were supposed to leave for camping in three days. Now it’s not happening.
What would you do?

·3 years agoTeach your son that "stuff happens." Also teach him to NEVER buy anything online when you need it fast. "Stuff happens." like the mail getting lost, the wrong item sent, the item is damaged. That is why if you needed this item, you need to buy it months ago online or a few weeks ago in a store and then check to make sure that all of the parts are there. So make it a teachable moment. Now see if you can find in a store near you. Is there a Dick's Sports store near you? Years ago, I saw a tent in one of their stores. Hopefully, they still have tents.
If you can't go camping because you can't find a tent, take him to a water park and a hotel with a pool. You can still have fun with the kid.

·3 years ago@romy1,
If the reason for cancelling the trip is a financial one, the quickest way to get a refund would be to contact ebay through their Facebook or Twitter social media sites (links below). Going through the report seller link provided by kathiec could take a week or 10 days to be resolved and a refund issued and posted. Even going through one of the social media sites it can take several days for a refund/charge back to be issued and posted to your bank or card provider. First check with the bank or card provider to see if a refund has been started or issued.
If you use the link posted by kathiec, on the first page use the blue Report seller button. You can select the transaction from your purchases list.
Next page select Seller violated an ebay policy > Continue
Next page, enter the seller's username, Select Other and in the Text box write:
"I won the auction for the tent and paid. Then received a message from the seller, that they had sold the tent before the auction ended, check my messages. I need a refund ASAP".
If you can afford the temporary loss, shop around locally for a suitable replacement tent. There are probably some End of summer sales going on at the larger Sporting Goods stores. To tell the truth, I can't imagine paying what your did for a tent unless it had heating, air conditioning, wi-fi etc..
If you go through the social media process you will need to provide the seller's username, and the 12 digit ebay item number, both of which can be found on the order details page. In the message explain what happened, and ask the rep to read the message from the seller. If the seller's cancellation message said Buyer requested cancellation, or problem with address, mention that as well. Sign the message with both your real name and ebay username. You should receive a reply within a day or so.

·3 years agoWe are all apparently assuming that you have been refunded by your seller.
If not, then you have 30 days to open an INR case.
Sounds like you are going to have to buy a tent locally.

·3 years agoAt that price was it a ice fishing tent?
Could probably rent a rv for half that, for the week..
Buy the biggest tarp I could find and enough 2in plumbing supplies and some tubes of liquid nails and see how many years the tent is still there..

·3 years agoThat is a great idea. Besides making it a teachable moment when buying online goes wrong. He can have bonding time with the kid while building the tent.

·3 years agoI would not punish your son by canceling the trip. You should have a backup plan and not always assume someone is going to ship something especially if it's purchased by auction. Find a way to get a tent at a store even if it costs more. Don't let money stop you from making fun memories.

·3 years agoThere's really not much you can do (and I'm assuming you've been refunded). EBay can't force a seller to ship an item. If the seller chose the correct 'out of stock' reason for the cancellation their account received a defect, enough of which can get them suspended. If they said you initiated the cancellation you can report them here. The only other thing you can do is leave calm, factual feedback.
