Return label not provided by buyer
Hello, I recently purchased a pair of shoes for $550 and have discovered they are counterfeit. The seller has agreed to accept a return but has not issued a return label. They are requesting my personal information, claiming it's necessary because they have none and we're also in different countries. I'm confused as to why they don't already have my details since they originally shipped the order to me. Am I being scammed once more? I'm uncertain about how to proceed.

You sound like you're very proud of yourself, your accusations and the feedback you left.
1. Before accusing a seller of selling fakes, you need to know that your accusation is correct
2. When comparing items, even of the same brand, you have to compare apples to apples. You can't compare different styles and you can't compare if they're from different eras.
3. When declaring a value, the value is the price it sold for. (If the value was higher, it would have sold for more money.
4. When returning an item you bought, you can't claim to be the seller.
Unfortunately, you handled this whole case very poorly.

·2 years agoHave always wondered what is there to stop "John" in the UK from opening an account with USPS, (or other carrier) purchasing a shipping label, and providing it to a buyer that wants to do a return??
Seems that I have read of such happenings here on the community boards.

·2 years agoStop communicating with the seller. You need to open a return through eBay. Go to the item in your purchase history, click Return, and select that the item was not as described. Three business days later you'll need to go back to the return and ask eBay to step in. That will trigger the EIS return process.

OP2 years agoI said the item was “defective/not working†is that the same as “not as described

·2 years agoNo worries. It has the same end result. Both trigger eBay's Money Back Guarantee.

·2 years agoThe seller used EIS (ebay international shipping) and sellers are NOT given any of the 'shipping info' beyond a name, so that is true.
In reality, if they used EIS, then ebay handles the 'return' and you need to contact EIS.

OP2 years agoBuyer just told me
“EBay cannot generate a return label as I don’t live in your country. I’ve tried telling you this a million times but you won’t listen and you’re asking someone with 3000 feedbacks comparing them to me who has 12,000.â€
and
“No they don’t. They can’t.â€
after I said “eBay will handle the return. Have a nice day !â€

OP2 years agoPlease let me know what to do.
Since the seller is in another country they can’t produce a return label using USPS. The seller needs your PayPal email address to send you funds for return label. Find out from your local post office what the cost will be to return the item to the seller in whatever country they are in. You will need the sellers return address. Then send the seller your PayPal info and how much is needed for the return.

OP2 years ago“â€Hi,
I can you send me a screen shot of the cost of postage.
Can you send me your PayPal address.
I will the. Send you the money for you to send the item back.
Because I used EBay’s Global Shipping programme to ship your items I have zero idea of where you live, your phone number or your email address, which would all be necessary if I was to provide you with a return label and I don’t have these details.“â€

Contrary to your TITLE for this thread, I am assuming you are the BUYER who bought something from an international seller. You did not specify what country you purchased from, but EIS shipping is not available everywhere.
The seller cannot send you a return label since they are out of the US. They want to send you MONEY via PayPal to cover the cost of shipping for you to send it back. That is what they are supposed to do. If you have their return address (or even the destination country), go look at USPS.com with the size and weight of the parcel and the cost to return the product with delivery confirmation back to the seller.
Give the seller that information in a screen shot so they know. They need your PayPal email address to send you the money. Then you use that money to buy a label and send back the product. If they don't send you the money THEN you go back to the case and ask eBay to step in and held (aka escalate).
The seller is trying to do the right thing, and it appears you are hesitant to cooperate.

OP2 years agoI didn’t use PayPal so why would I use PayPal now?? I’m so confused. Seller sent me a fake item I should receive a return label by either seller or eBay. Why would I go and buy labels and ask the seller to send me money? Sounds a bit shady. Sounds like a scam…. What’s the safest / correct route to return an item to a UK seller whose address is not stated on the packaging????

You may not have used PayPal to make your purchase, but the seller will need your PayPal information to send you your funds for the cost of the return label (that you'll have) to purchase.
Doesn't sound shady or scammy at all.
With the postage paid, I'm sure your seller will give you their return shipping address. You'll ship the shoes back.

OP2 years agoWhat if I wait for eBay to step in?

Then, I'd have to agree with @ittybitnot that you are "hesitant to cooperate".
Honestly, I don't know what would happen when eBay sees the messages with the seller trying to make things right and all. You've said you didn't use PayPal (who would have been your second remedy), so I suppose you'd have to file a claim (final remedy) to your payment provider if eBay closes this case in the seller's favor.
Again, I don't know how your payment provider would handle it, either. To me, it seems easiest to leave it with eBay.

@luxurygoodstrader
If the seller can document though messages that an attempt was made to comply with the protocol for these situations, and you continue to refuse and insist on a label, you may just lose the case.

@luxurygoodstrader
Neither the seller nor eBay can provide you with a label. The seller can only provide money to you.
I suppose they can send you a wire transfer to your bank account (my bank charges me $35 to receive one if the payment is $5000 or $5) , but then you would have to provide your bank routing number AND your account number to receive same.
If your seller in the UK used the GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM, they are responsible to fund the return. Providing you a label is not an option. Part of doing business internationally.
