Refunded only half my cost.
My seller said they accept returns. Item was Way to big! Requested a refund, sent it back. They refunded less than Half of my cost! How can I get ebay to step in and help??

-If all you did was send the item back to the Seller because they sent you a return label they are under no obligation to fully refund you or refund you at all for that matter.
-If that is what happened eBay will not help you because you handled the return OUTSIDE eBay's return process
-If it was an official eBay return claim the pre-paid label would have come from eBay NOT the Seller. In that case the Seller would have been given 48 hours to refund you and if they didn't you could go back to the claim and ask eBay to step in
-Sellers have a number of "Seller protections" that eBay allows and one of them is to withhold up to 50% of the item price and all of the original shipping a Buyer pays. However, these only apply in certain scenarios or conditions or type of return through eBay.
-Without more specific detail above is about all that we can tell you for now. Sorry it happened, use eBay for any future returns, you don't even need to be in touch with the Seller for them.

·3 years agoWas the item you received marked the same size that was in the listing? Were measurements in the listing? If so, did those match? If the answer to all that is yes, in eBay's eyes it was a remorse return. There's little chance eBay will increase your refund unless there was something specifically stated in the listing that wasn't true.
And there's no way you can ship anything for $4 these days.

·3 years ago@kathiec The only thing I'd add to that is that IF the seller actually did exceed the guideline for return withholding, depending on the damage in question, then eBay likely would make the buyer whole. Just had a convo about this with an eBay employee last week (NOT a CSR).

·3 years agoThere is no envelope that fits clothing which ships for $4 anymore. If the item was the stated size & it didn't fit you, that IS a remorse return. If they sent you a different size from what the listing said, then that's a SNAD. Fit issues are not SNADS.
But it is possible they withheld too much on the return & if so, you can contact CS by going to the top of any screen & clicking on the Help & Contact link & then type Call Me, after you work your way down the menu. Ebay DOES have guidelines on how much sellers can retain for different kinds of damage (ie; if you removed the tags or it's dirty or covered in hair).

A bit confused... did you open an eBay Return claim? Or did you just return it with the seller's promise of a refund?

OP3 years agoI asked to return it, they gave me a return link with the address. I paid 32.00 for the item,
they charged 20.00 return shipping!!! I know it cost them maybe 3.00 for the envelope they sent it to me in. Is there anyway to chat with an ebay help person? do you know??

That really didn't answer my question, so now I'm even more confused. So again, "did you open an eBay Return claim?" Because it sounds like "...did you just return it with the seller's promise of a refund?" is more correct.
If you'd opened a Return, you'd have had a return shipping label (through the claim) to use. If it wasn't handled in the proper way, I don't know if eBay will 'help' you at all. Matter of fact, I think you picked a scrub seller. Bummer...

·3 years agoDoesn't fit is a remorse return where the seller can deduct original shipping.
If it's returned with tags removed or in worse condition the seller can also deduct up to 50% of the the refund.
In the future it might be better for you to resell an item instead of returning it if you no longer want it.

OP3 years agoIt wasn't a remorse return. I ordered the same brand and same size that I wear.
What they sent me was at least twice as big as I wear! They charged me 20.00 return shipping and thats outragious!! They shipped in a thin envelope maybe 4.00 shipping.
Anyway, thanks for trying to help and answering. There's no way to contact an ebay help person, is there?

·3 years agoYou should see a button to Ask eBay to step in (that's how to contact eBay) on your refund page, like this:
If not and you paid using PayPal
-- file a new return request for "at least twice as big" but here instead, for the remainder of your refund
-- and provide your return tracking number showing that the seller @2deocean received it back.
Then just wait, do not talk to the seller again, to get the rest of your refund automatically after 10 days. Otherwise, file a chargeback with your card issuer, provide the return tracking number, to get the the other half of your cost back.

·3 years agoOn eBay if it's the wrong size or doesn't fit it's a remorse return where the buyer is charged for the return shipping. If the label cost was more that you think should pay then you needed to ask eBay for help prior to using the return label.
Sorry but I believe you're stuck with the outcome.

Should be a spot right there on the refund notification to "appeal" the reduced $$ refund stating why you feel that you are entitled to more $$$.
For some returns the buyer may be responsible for shipping costs in both directions. That could account for some(all) of the %age deducted.

·3 years agoWe need a LOT more information to answer that. WHAT did you buy? What specific reason did you give for the return request? Was it returned in original saleable condition? i.e. - if it was clothing are all of the tags still attached?
You say it us "way too big". Were the dimensions shown in the listing and does the item match the dimensions?
eBay allows up to a 50% deduction on a return under certain conditions. The seller is prompted to give a reason for the deduction. What did that say?
