Refund on a item that This listing has been removed for a policy violation
Summary: zoogator expressed frustration over purchasing an item that faced a significant shipping delay and was later removed for a policy violation. Despite attempting to cancel the order, they were informed they needed to wait until May for further action. Others shared similar experiences, complaining about eBay's processes when dealing with policy violations and unresponsive sellers. wants2getgooddealz mentioned prolonged refund processes and issues with eBay's customer service, while mudshark61369 noted challenges with new sellers who have no feedback.
I don't understand what is happening. I purchased an item and then saw that it wouldn't be shipped in over 2 months. I thought is was highly suspicious and tried to cancel the order. The cancellation was denied. Then I go to ask about a refund because "This listing has been removed for a policy violation"
Order number:27-14192-68957
Order date:Feb 9, 2026
Item no:336416132698......
Now ebay is saying the item might still be on the way and I can't do anything until May 2nd.
Is there a number I can call? I am going around in circles because the listing has been removed.
I understand that I screwed up by not checking the estimated shipping before the purchased and the feedback was over 90%. But why won't Ebay help since they removed the item for policy violation?

This topic will soon be locked because it is over 6 months old. You should have started your own topic. One reason why you are having problems is buying from (0) feedback sellers. They often do not ship items because of the 30 day hold ebay places on new sellers first several payments, which they do not know about or how to deal with. On their account they see the payment status showing as Pending, so the do not ship and often do not respond to messages.

·2 weeks agoSimilar story with multiple items on ebay now. Some were sold by seller with some feedback but most were still unrated. Some accounts have even been removed by ebay but "system" was still waiting on items that were NEVER shipped out to get delivered by account that no longer exists. Make it make sense lol. This is why I started avoiding buying on ebay more and more. Waiting weeks and months on your money to be returned and being held "hostage", who takes the interest made on those money in the meantime? For one auction sure it's not a lot but for thousands it's a different story. Not sure how legal this is even in some states, so will have to talk to consumer protection I guess, to see if it's allowed in my state. Talking to ebay customer service didn't produce much results either, hours wasted on the phone might get you the refund weeks later but this is just not the experience buyer wants to go through over and over either. I'm sure they can figure out a way to make it less stressful like for example if item was never shipped out then refund the money, if account doesn't exist there's no way they will ship it out anyway.

·6 months agoYes eBay will help @zoogator when you go ahead to start a return request now, for the Missing parts or pieces reason.
And you'll get your refund, despite the This listing has been removed for a policy violation warning across every page.

"But why won't Ebay help since they removed the item for policy violation?"
They will make you wait because you received the Removed message a few days after you made the purchase which means the seller had the time to ship the item, even if they did not provide tracking, which is not a Requirement.
You will now have to wait until May 3, to file an item not received (INR) dispute. Make sure you save the message you received from ebay about the removal. Read and save the terms of eBay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) in the link below.

In the future do not buy anything being sold by China based sellers, especially ones with less than a 98.6% rating, who list items with a lower than trending or spot prices. China is the world's home of counterfeit items and other scams.
Reading everything on a listing page looking for discrepancies, very long delivery times... etc. is an important buyer responsibility. So is checking each seller's feedback profile before buying from one, no matter what their feedback percentage is.

·6 months agoYou would have been able to see the shipping time on the listing page BEFORE you decided to purchase the item. If receiving an item is time sensitive, it would be in your best interest to not purchase items located in China.
When listings indicate a delivery time that does not meet your needs/wishes, you can find another item listed for sale with a shorter delivery time.
You cannot take any action until the estimated date of delivery has passed.
EDITED TO ADD: You needed to check the seller's feedback profile page before purchasing from them.

Not only is the feedback just 94% but there are negs for counterfeit silver coins.
It's generally not recommended to buy gold and silver coins from China.

eBay won't cancel orders or refund prematurely. The refund system is automated. eBay will only step in and refund when the seller misses a timeline on an Item Not Received case or a Return case.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee works like it states it works. Buyers and Sellers must operate within the policies. I have bought hundreds of items on eBay with nary an issue. Granted, I have had to file some returns and have filed Item Not Received cases a time or two when sellers were “too busy to shipâ€.
eBay is where I find the deals. I sell on AMZ as well and there is not a single item I sell on ebay that is more expensive than what I get for the products on AMZ.

·6 months agoBecause they don't know if the seller is going to ship or not.

·6 months agoBecause sometimes the "policy violation" may not have anything to do with the item itself, and it has already been shipped. So the policy is to wait, and refund if the item is either not delivered or is not as described.
In this case, I'm sure the violation is because the "silver" bar is counterfeit, though. Up until this month, all of their feedbacks were for selling auto parts, so that's how they earned their good feedbacks. Then, apparently on Feb 1, they started to list fake silver, and have since sold hundreds of bars and coins from about a half dozen listings, and their feedback rating has been dropping.
It's possible that the seller may be suspended from selling, or made NARU (not a registered user) soon, because of the feedbacks they are now receiving from the counterfeit silver they are listing now. The listing you purchased has received one feedback saying that the silver bars were counterfeit. That was one negative for one purchase of 6 bars, out of 107 sold total. Some of those buyers may have reported the fakes but not left feedback, of course.
If the seller is NARU'd, then eBay may refund the remaining items, or they may still wait and make you file a NAD case if you receive something. Because a lot of buyers have not complained about what they received, and some even left very positive feedback for another listing (336416132844 ) that has also been removed. If all the buyers had complained (there have been hundreds of sales), the seller would definitely be NARU by now. (The average selling price was about $35-$40, some of the buyers had purchased multiple quantities.)
I noticed that this was not the Statue of Liberty on the bar, it's actually the design on the Walking Liberty half dollar. Bullion buyers should always be very wary when purchasing online. Many offers will be deceptive. Another thing to look for, is if the silver was supposed to be manufactured in the United States, then there won't be hundreds of them available all being shipped from China. From their remaining listing for these silver bars, there were some warnings in the description as well: "not OEM", "for Halloween enthusiasts and collectors", "Perfect for treasure hunts", "Whether used as a prop or integrated into your collection".
Regulars here on the community forum will know about this, because there have been many complaints about fake silver being sold out of China, and some of the regulars are coin and bullion experts. So we have been reading about this problem here for months/years.
I don't mean to suggest it was all your fault, I'm just trying to show you what you need to be aware of, and what kind of things to look out for. Any discrepancy, in describing bullion, could be a red flag.

·6 months agoWhen the last estimated date of delivery passes by one day and you haven’t received your item you can open an item not received case. To do this you go to your purchase history, locate the item , click the drop down menu called More actions. Click I didn’t receive it, follow the prompts.
If the estimated date of delivery is several months into the future , you may need to involve your payment source in an item not received dispute.Good luck.
lakefor94
·6 months agoThere is not a number to call @zoogator . Don't try to google a number as it will lead you to a scam.
eBay won't help anyway until 30 days after the latest estimated delivery date as you probably found out is May 2. If you don't receive your item by then, you can file a item not received case.
If you have any other issues, like having to return the item or something else, just come here and ask questions to get direct answers from experienced buyer and sellers. Beats contacting eBay and a lot more proficient.
As far as eBay is concerned, you are stuck where you are for now.
