Re: Eliminate New Auto-Pay Requirement when Submitting Best Offers.
So the last conversation on this topic (at least what i found here) was closed with no further discussion. My dilemma is that being on a 'limited' budget when i submit a "make offer" and it has been accepted, it is paid automatically. Because of this i can not use PayPal's 'pay in 4' interest free payments.
when i make purchases on eBay i have the option to choose how to pay.
the make offer auto payment bypasses my PayPal options and bills the full amount when i really need to use pay in 4....
is there a way to stop the autopay so i am able to use pay in 4???

·2 years agoI will no longer bid or make offers on EBay. My EBay use is going to drop to next to nothing. Great move EBay.

Yes, my last "unaffected" ID was forced into the program today "midstream" so to speak. Went to bid again, or increase MAX on multiples from the same seller only to get the notice that I must comply to proceed.
Of course, I did not. Got to wonder what they are going to do about me if I win some of those auctions anyway? Will they take away my "request total" button? Too bad for this seller, they could have gotten a lot more money.
As has been suggested, the seller says they "will combine, wait for invoice", so they likely don't know about their new buyer restrictions, or if they do, are not informed that a combined invoice will not be an option once the buyer ID submits to the NEW SMOOTHER CHECKOUT requirement.

·2 years agoThere is a direct conflict in needs. Your needs vs the needs of sellers to see transactions completed in a timely manner.
After many years of favoring the needs of buyers like yourself who wish to delay paying for items which their offers have been accepted on, Ebay is now favoring the sellers.
Sellers have the ability to accommodate buyers on a tight budget by disabling the requirement for a payment method on offers. Some will, some will not.
A transaction requires a willing seller and a willing buyer, and when their interests are not aligned, there should be no sale.

·2 years agoWhy wouldn't payment within 24 hours be considered as timely ?
Ebay does provide buyers 3 days to tender payment on buy now listings when immediate payment is not required, failure to pay timely buyer is subject to receiving a non payment strike.
Eliminate Auto pay & require buyer payment within 24 hours , or earn a non payment strike

·2 years agoThe problem with 24 hours only is that sellers dont respond quickly to offers either. If im using ebay today, and a seller doesen't accept an offer until the last hour before the offer expires, I might not necessarily have my eyes glued to my ebay/email inbox 24/7 and decide to maybe go somewhere for the weekend.
I can only speak for myself personally, but if someone accepted my offers within an hour or two, it would get paid immediately. Some times, sellers wouldn't accept offers until 23 hours later (waiting for a better offer to come through im guessing, then accepting mine at the last minute when that didn't happen) but I wasn't home at the time or I was taking a day off from using my PC or maybe wasn't feeling well and it might take me another day or two to see that the offer was accepted.
Also occasionally I might send multiple offers, one or two get accepted immediately, but for various reasons, there's delays or counteroffers going back and forth on other items, and I wanted to combine shipping on all the items, and as such, had to wait for the pending offer exchanges to finish before paying for everything.

·2 years agoYou have the option to choose how to pay when you make the offer. My understanding is that options are available (at least PayPal credit is an option in some screenshots I've seen--it might have to do with your default funding method you set at paypal.com) when you make an offer the same as if you were doing a Buy It Now in the same amount on that item as listed.

·2 years agoNo it is not the same, you have fewer options, paypal pay in 4 is NOT an option no matter what you do. Using virtual cards that offer Pay in 4, like Affirm or Klarna is more difficult and next to impossible since you don't know if the seller will counteroffer or not, changing the value you need to authorize for, or if they will accept before the card times out.
You can not use ebay points for any offers.
You can not combine purchases when using offers.
You can link paypal as a payment option, but again, no pay in 4, just cards in your wallet. Also once you link paypal as a payment in the offer windows, you can not change what card in your paypal wallet is used for payments, since once you set it, that is locked in. I assume one would have to remove and re-add paypal as a payment option every time they want to pick a different card in their paypal wallet.
It is a gigantic pain in the ass and I'm already making fewer purchases than I would had they not totally screwed this up for the worse. I'm also sending lower offers because i cant combine S&H before paying, and honestly the price of the frustration is something I'm calculating into the process now.
In the past few months all eBay has done has instilled a significant amount of hatred within me as a buyer for ruining something that used to be tolerable. Now I'm spending more time on FB marketplace and other sources because I want eBay to go away and for people to start using something else.

·2 years agoMy solution (after I used this one time) was to go in and delete my 'saved for me' payment option and from then on message a seller and ask them to send me the offer if it was acceptable so I could choose PP Credit which this feature doesn't allow.
