Purchased item, within minutes seller marks item as shipped, 1 hour later cancels
This was fun. I've been on ebay for 25 years, never had this before. So seller cancels citing *high shipping costs*. Did you not know this before you listed? WTH and seriously is this even not against ebay's policy of random cancelling? I sent seller a scathing email - considering on negging them and I think I've only negged someone 2x in my history on ebay and they were deserved. Unbelievable.

·1 year agoSee this a lot on eBay.
It's common for a seller to think that in order to sell something, they must be cheaper than the competition.
Then the next seller of the same item, thinks the same.
And on and on and on and on.
Enough undercutting and now somebody's item total price shipped.....is now less than it costs to ship the item.
And they cancel.
I sold a fender last week that cost $250 to ship it.
The same fenders are all over eBay for less than $150 shipped. AND, that can't be done for $150.
Pretty much ruins sales for those that have their items priced "right".
Back in the day, I worked at a salvage yard. A competitor would price parts he did not have.
Customer: Hey, how much is a chevy wheel?
Competitor: Sorry, we don't have one.
Customer: If you did, how much would it be?
Competitor: $20
Then, Customer would call us.
Customer: How much is a chevy wheel?
Us: $75
And that's where it hits the fan. Nobody gets to sell a wheel. At least not for a long time. And customer drives on a spare...for-ever

·1 year agoWhat reason did they use on the cancellation details?
Ebay will give you an unpaid item strike even though you paid if the seller said the reason was " Buyer asked to cancel".
I got 2 UPI strikes from sellers doing that and ebay refused to remove them.
See my recent thread for more details.

OP1 year agoSeller cited *high shipment costs* *unforeseen*. Refund is apparently underway. The whole item was under 30 bucks - shipment 15. I think they're just really clueless. Altogether.

·1 year agoLikely they did not know.
Some are clueless when it comes to the cost of shipping, or they may have made an error.
On the positive side.............. at least they did not cancel saying that you requested to cancel.
As to feedback I would have to make my determination on such based on how long a seller has been at it. A new seller doesn't need a beatdown for a mistake. YMMV
The 15 negs that you left were likely deserved.

OP1 year agoSeller is weak. Should've stood by their word and auction and not backed out like a coward. It's not an expensive item either. Principles, people.
