Purchased an item a while ago, seller has not shipped and will not respond to messages. Any advice?
Hey everyone,
I purchased an item roughly a week ago, and waited the three business days for the seller to ship out the item. After the three business days elapsed I sent a friendly message asking if they would mind providing a tracking number IF they had sent out the package. In doing so I hoped more than anything I would get a response, indicating that the seller had the intention to ship the item in the first place (I understand everyones got lives outside of eBay so I am not worried about the timeframe - more so the lack of response). I sent that message a couple days ago and they still have not responded.
I may be overreacting (and let me know if I am!) but I am slightly worried about the situation as I have used eBay for several years as a seller and buyer and have never had something like this happen. As a seller, if for whatever reason I experience a delay shipping an item out, I always take the initiative and inform the buyer. I am inclined to refund the item before to much time elapses, though I wanted to get advice on the matter before I react rashly. I was hoping that someone who was once in a similar situation or any sellers or buyers with eBay experience would be able to chip in on the subject. Let me know whether I am in the wrong, I should wait for more time to elapse before acting, or do things seem off to you and should I address the issue now?
Thanks for the time everyone I really appreciate it!

First, there is no need to contact a seller regarding shipping, until the last estimated delivery date is very near, you cannot do any thing about the transaction until that date has passed. If you bought from a high volume seller, they often do not respond to messages, and no seller is required to do that.
Did you check the seller's feedback profile page before buying from them, if you haven't done that do it now. On their profile look to see how many feedback they have received As a seller. If you find they have none, or haven't received any in over a year, your seller may have run into the 21 day hold ebay places on all new or returning sellers first few payments, and they do not know how to deal with it. On their account you payment's status shows Pending, so they probably do not think the funds have cleared, and they haven't responded to messages possibly because they think you are trying to scam them somehow.
Checking a feedback profile to see if a seller has experience is only one reason why you should the feedback profile of each seller you intend to buy from. Never go by a feedback percentage alone. A new seller could have a fair number of feedback and a 100% rating, but all for buying, at least in the last year.
If you want the item, try messaging them again and tell them if they have not shipped because your payment is marked as Pending, to do a google search for "Payments on hold - ebay". If they do that they will get the information needed to complete the transaction and get the funds released sooner.
If your purchase was from a foreign seller, and there is a tracking number that hasn't updated, that will not happen until the item arrives in the U.S., clears customs and is turned over to the domestic shipping service whose tracking number you were provided.
