Purchase and Allstate Ins. for delivery added, not by seller?
Purchased an item that I had reviewed that came in perfect and was excellent seller, In billing I see a fee $14.95 for ins. that I did not add or click on. Seller said its not his charges. ?

·3 years agoRather than call the number that Allstate left in my feedback @Anonymous (and now you shared that they ask too many personal questions) I wrote to them from the Contact Seller link on that additional warranty purchase at eBay. I got no response.
So I filed a chargeback with my card issuer, citing the "You may cancel this Protection Plan for any reason at any time" in the Allstate policy, and got my refund.

·3 years agoYou will want to look at every single e-commerce web site as this is not shady, surprising or new behavior. It has been around over a decade, more recently expanding since pandemic. It is an opt-out in check-out policy that was probably skipped over when you were asked to read the updated user policy for ebay.
You need to take personal responsibility for confirming 100% of what you are paying for BEFORE you agree to pay for it. This is 100% on you - with an easy out - just contact them to close the policy & get a refund. Doing nothing about it means you are choosing to accept your loss of the money. Only your action with the policy company, not ebay, can initiate any form of a refund.

·3 years agoNo. That crap insurance comes up on the order set to YES. You have to click no before going on to pay. If you just click to pay, you just bought it. Slimy trick I say.

OP3 years agoLive and learn, last question, Can anyone tell a live ebay phone number . Started with ebay when Blackthorn was a search engine. Great for a long time, then health made me stop after getting health issues, so now cleaning house.

·3 years agoYou haven't been able to call eBay CS since the pandemic. Go through the Help & Contact link below and you'll come to the option for eBay to call you. But I'm not sure what CS can do for you now. At this point only SquareTrade can cancel the policy and refund you.

·3 years agoI just bought something with asking if I want the insurance. I had to click on "no". Apparently, you might have typed in too fast to buy the item....saying no to the insurance.

·3 years agoI want to say are you not paying attention? Calling eBay or talking to eBay doesn't cancel your Allsate warranty. Go back and read messages 4 and follow the instructions there to cancel the warranty (that you called insurance).

·3 years agoEBay allows it for the same reason Amazon offers extended warranties: Many buyers want the option of adding a warranty to a purchase. There is a separate selection when you make a purchase to add the warranty. My guess is that you ticked the box by accident. As was posted above, cancelling the policy and getting a refund is simple.

·3 years agoEbay collects fees on every sale so they hope you don't notice. Always double check the charges at checkout before paying. I also do not recommend authorizing them to automatically charge your payment source for auctions and offer.

This is something the seller can require. If that's what the seller wants and their buyer requirements are set up to charge you if you win then if you don't agree you won't be able to bid.

It's always a good idea to review all charges yourself at checkout before submitting the payment

OP3 years agoI saw the price with shipping and tax. Went to complete noticed this as a warranty which seller had and clicked pay. next day I notice the extra fees for Allstate. Emailed seller who said not his doing. How does ebay allow this on a purchase not involving seller. Verbage very very misleading, looks very unethical for a third party to do, Is this Ebay, I want money refunded,
